The song is receiving massive success, is #1 in over 60 countries on iTunes, and is a great follow-up to Million Reasons, why wouldn't she shoot a video for it? It keeps people talking about her until the Joanne World Tour.

If it was for fun for Coachella she wouldn't have even released it officially... She performed a lot of unreleased songs for fun during her tours, she never released it..

The Cure is most probably the lead single of a new project (linked or not to Joanne), or she wouldn't have teased the fact she was back in studio secretly. There's not point of saying this if it was only for one song..

However, I think it will be a standalone single if it doesn't do well. So if we want the second or third singles, The Cure has to hit the charts hard.

as if. she said she's been in the studio making new music, not songs. if it was for Coachella, we wouldn't have the studio version. 

 

also, Gaga releasing a genetic stand alone single? Embarrassing to her art cred if it flops.

To be fair, Applause was successful. But she didn't release the video too late after its release, I think it came one week after the VMAs performance, which wasn't too long to wait.

A one-week gap is still better than an immediate release (unless you're Beyonce) because it is still enough time to generate interest. There's also the fact that Applause is a great song and very catchy and Gaga was doing loads of promo for it, so the video probably didn't have a huge effect on sales anyway.

The music industry is a business like any other. If there is a gap between single releases and music video releases, it's because the men in suits have discovered through trial and error that this is the best formula for success. I know it'd be wonderful for a bunch of twinks on a fan forum to swan in and show them how it's done, but unfortunately, they're the ones with the data and decades of proof to back up their method.

I trust Stephanie's managament this time around ! They seem to have every small detail planned out and I guess they will do what it takes to make it blow up. Let's just be patient and we'll see. The single surely resonates with people, which has been proved by a massive initial chart success all around the world.

I have a feeling Gaga will drop the video unexpectedly and it'd better be a professionally directed video with some nice plot 

I'm strung out on the song and can't stop listening to it !!! It gives me power
