tbh, I don't get the hype and praise for Aura; I think it's a good song, but I don't think it's single material whatsoever.

It does have passion though, don't you think?

And not only would Gaga have enjoyed the mini era of the single but we would also have one less scrapped project to talk about 😋 (the telephone continuation)

lol true about the Telephone part

I don't know, I just never saw it as single worthy or anything. It certainly has passion, but it just seems "too different", I don't really know how to put it...

Perfect Illusion is a masterpiece and one of the best songs on the album, it's a shame that it will undeservingly have the flop label attached to it forever.

In retrospect, A-YO would have been the better choice to kick off the era solely because of the fact that it is more radio friendly, represents the overall style of the album better and Gaga was more passionate in promoting and performing it.

A-yo would actually done good to moderate as a lead single and gaga would def done promo for the song since she seems to love it, it even have more promo then PI as a promo single :deadbanana:. I don't know what Interscope were thinking when they choice PI as a gaga's big comeback to pop music. Atleast MR and Suberbowl healed the problems PI made :applause:

Basically this!

I'm tired of people saying, "I don't care about the GP, nor does Gaga."

Yes she does. If you want your music to be heard (and trust me every artist wants his/her music to be heard) you need to stay relevant, and to stay relevant you need commercial success, and for commercial succes, you need the GP, that's it.

How do you know that Gaga wanted that as the lead single and Interscope stopped her? Has this become the excuse to explain every single that flops and how Gaga isn't necessarily responsible? :usrs:

These people seem to confuse two different things. She doesn't make or write music to rank high on the charts but she is interested in the public response of the music she puts out. When the Joanne era kicked off she was looking at what the general public was saying on Twitter by searching specific keywords, she is always interested.

Because the explanation Gaga gave for PI was so random (lol) and she seemed to not really care about the song, she barely promoted it. On the other hand, she loves A-Yo.

Btw Gaga wanted Bad Romance as the lead single from TFM while Interscope wanted Telephone. None of them would have flopped but we all know which was the better choice :reductive:

Exactly. The fact that she doesn't write music for the charts doesn't mean that she doesn't want people to like her music. That's absurd :saladga:

She said in an interview that seeing how much people liked The Fame was one of the best feelings of her live :diane:

Why would Interscope scrap A-YO as a lead single? It's not really a bad song.

Maybe Gaga did want PI as the lead single because that's how she probably felt during that time about her now former bf

Because A-Yo sounds nothing like any thing Gaga has released as a single before and Interscope chose the song which was more Gaga-esque and which also stressed on her brek up with Taylor cause why not, let's make money out of a real-life break up
