Really good question, I think it has to do with the hype around her, she's so successful at this point and her fanbase is so strong that she could make a song about glazed donuts and it would be praised. It's all about perspective, I think if a different singer had the exact same album it wouldn't be received just as well (of course that's just an opinion). I honestly didn't like most of the songs, I think there's one I liked, All Night or something but the rest wasn't enjoyable to listen to. She also has a message in her songs, something I respect and that's nowadays pretty rare in the music industry, so I think her being an icon of black pride could also have something to do with this. alejandreaux 1,053
She sold 700k first week and got a 92 on Metacritic, but she deserved to sell 1m+ first week and have a 110 on MC.
Haroon 49,685
It's an amazing visual album that touches on some very hard hitting subjects and does it spectacularly Then you also have how there's not much to really dislike about her, she ticks pretty much all of the boxes and manages to appeal to most people in some way or another

All of the delulu monsters need to stop saying she's overrated, when clearly, she's not. Bitch toured her biggest tour and one week after she gave a visual masterpiece of a performance at a TIDAL event. spill that tea Bey is a mother and she doesn't have time to do everything. Sometimes you have to compromise as an artist. Gaga wrote all of her songs and Beyoncé shot and directed a whole movie (but wasn't part of every creative step). Both worked their a**es off, unlike you guys who like to pit women against each other

Because she uses her husband and child to sell her music, her stick this time was making Jay look like he cheated on her, also she used over 60 writers and 17 producers so I bet why it got acclaim is her "hard work"

River 116,195
The high sales: a surprise release brings curiosity so people are buying the product without actually knowing what it's offering... I bet that a high percentage of the buyers are disappointed.. Critics: When you read the articles you see that most of them are talking about the visual and less about the music, yes the visual is good and interesting but the music? not so much.. the lyrics are awful, her voice is even worst compare to her previous work and it's just annoying to listen to the songs.. She covered a bad music with outstanding visual short movie... So sploosh your juice all over me you Riverboy

Gaga's angel down is waaaaaaaaaaay better than formation. The same goes with run the world, Gaga's hey girl is way better Glad someone else has said this. She's hardly an eloquent representative for black rights. If I were black, I'd feel embarrassed by Formation. I'm embarrassed by it as a white person. The lyrics are immature, laughable and Beyonce makes it all about herself and masquerades it as a song about the bigger picture. Angel Down is how you handle a song about race with intelligence and maturity. But no, that gets overlooked because no matter what the lyrics are, society will always treat a song about race from a black person so much more seriously. She covered a bad music with outstanding visual short movie... Very true. But very few people bring up this idea. After the singles from 4 flopped, Beyonce was shook. She realised her time as a successful singles artist could be up. She realised that there was the potential that she was going to be referred to as a flop from here on out. So she decided to reinvent herself as an albums artist, deliberately not release singles pre-album and release her album in such a way that the only way you could listen to it was to buy the entire thing. In other words, she decided to trick people into buying her work through making it exclusive as a complete album experience. But it could start to backfire on her. At the time, we thought she was only going to do it once but she's done it twice now. Can she really endure with this model successfully for the rest of her life? Eventually, people will start to realise that she just tricks people into buying the whole thing because they wouldn't be interested in such experimental music if it was released normally. I really can't imagine all her fans, particularly the young ones, are impressed with her new material, thinking it's too out-there and experimental, with no bops. So, at what point are they going to just give up falling for her complete experience gimmick? That is the question.
