They had no foresight. So are you suggesting that the Super delegates should have switched over to Bernie even though he lost the popular by quite a bit? Well, she blew a roughly ten point, post convention lead in less than a month. She has set historical precedent in all of her campaigns in which she always trends downward in the polls the longer she is running. It's only going to get worse with her health scares, constant lies and more and more coming out in regards to emails and her pay-to-play Clinton Foundation. She is the epitome of what everyone despises in a politician. How does it make sense to run a establishment politician, who is not liked, in a year filled with anit-establishment sentiment? Yes I am. That's also explicitly in the charter in regards to them. That there may be a candidate that "the people like and vote for" but is not in reality a strong or viable option and so they come in and cast their votes for the one that can actually win to ensure a victory in November. That is not her and never was her. They tried to say it was Senator Sanders, but look at where we are now. She's virtually tied him in a national average and is beginning to slip in many polls. All polls throughout the primary showed Bernie defeat in not only Trump, but any other Republican candidate by very comfortable margins and had Hillary tying or barely scraping out a win against Trump and losing to any other competitor (Cruz, Rubio or Kasich, etc). When you factor in an extremely biased media (all of whose parent cable network companies are top donors to her campaign) who blacked him out for well over half a year until he started winning primaries, an extremely biased party which violated its bylaws by putting its finger on the scale for her just to "make history" again, Super Delegates that hopped on her bandwagon right from the start (which was wrong and gave the appearance of an insurmountable lead that the media would not distinguish from which misinformed voters of how close the race actually was), massive voter fraud/suppression and just an overall unfair primary, that is where the small (and yes, in a national election, a couple million votes difference is small) difference comes from + caucus states not reporting vote totals or participation. So, they should have done what their job was to do and swing in and pick the strongest candidate that everyone liked - not toss him under the bus and kick his supporters (half the party) to the curb.
