if they dont like it when they hear it first, they wont even bother to listen to it for a second time and let it grow on them :toofunny:

When it's played on the radio, on iTunes, in performances, etc. etc., people will not have a choice but to hear it a second or third time. I really despise your attitude on this forum.

Let them release this weekend. Gaga's album isn't dropping until a month or two. Hell, even the MV for PI will take a few weeks :laughga:

Gaga will do fine

I think it'll be that kind of thing with this, after everything that's happened she really needs to rebuild her brand and it's not gonna happen overnight.

But hasn't she been for a few years now already??

Not in the pop scene. She gained acclaim in jazz department.

Her brand is 'Lady Gaga'. It doesn't change depending on the genre. She's already rebuilt her image and shown her vocals which was her biggest aim.

The song isn't doing as well as hoped solely because it's not as palatable as the others on Top 40. It has nothing to do with a failing pop brand or even her brand as a whole. Everyone knows she can sing.

We already knew it would fall on account of it's performance on iTunes. It won't debut top ten and there isn't anything monsters can do about it.

However this is due largely in part to the fact that despite all her radio interviews, most of the playlists on these stations haven't been updated. They are usually pretty regimented and strict with what they play. On Friday we'll know if Radio 1 playlist it (which they will), and then if it doesn't go back up from there, well...

Look at Kanye's "Fade". It was randomly released on iTunes on the same day as PI. It's from an album that has been out for seven months but it has been played mercilessly by Radio 1 and all week it has been climbing non-stop and now it's #13.

Everyone needs to stop acting like PI is over when it literally hasn't even been out a week yet. Singles are more often than not a waiting game.

It will never have just dances impact, that was so different and she was a new artist. She needs to do TV interviews, people love that here, everyone watches Graham Norton and shows like X Factor.  I don't know how big radio is in America but in UK it's main demographic is old men and women. Lol. None of my friends listen to radio.

Of course it does. Did Gaga's Jazz acclaim change Tony Bennett's opinion on her pop music? There will always be listeners that would prefer certain genres and style. Just because somebody crossed over doesn't mean they will be an instant hit or that they could easily go back to what they did before. ARTPOP is still her latest pop entry. You see all publications critiquing PI mention it.

Speaking of critiques, PI was received generally positive. The music is good. Not what you'd expect from Gaga at all, but good nonetheless. It's not palatable because it has heavier influence from another genre, a genre not dominating the top 40 at the moment. So your argument actually proves my point. Do you think she'll be able to put a Jazz song on the top 40 at this point in her career? No. It will do well in Jazz, but not in pop.

You're confusing her commercial success and her brand.

Her brand isn't a 'jazz singer' or a 'pop singer'. Lady Gaga is her brand. Her brand was dented because people didn't take her seriously and lost faith in it however it's now common knowledge that she can sing. She has rebuilt her brand these last few years.

Whether it is a hit or not has nothing to do with her brand. It's based on if people enjoy the song or not. How is she going to 'rebuild her brand' further? By releasing expected pop music to achieve a hit? Nope. That would be strengthening her commercial success not brand.

She has rebuilt her brand as a fearless and individual powerhouse vocalist. Someone who will release what they choose to and not what is fashionable.

If you believe PI is 'underperfoming' because she hasn't rebuilt her brand then you're mistaken. If anything PI solidified her brand.

Commercial success is heavily tied to brand but that's another matter.

Alright let's try this. What is Gaga's brand in your opinion?

I already said.

PI strengthens this newly found rebuilt brand. She's unique and fearless. She gets people talking.

She's rebuilt her brand or well not even that she has expanded her brand. She's still that quirky and crazy pop star but she's evolved into so much more.
