Having tours to back up your studio work is essential, that's what the heart of performing is. Music is all about the live experience for your listeners. if you're not touring to the level you should be, it's simply wrong and unacceptable. Artists that don't give a good live effort worldwide pay a price for it later. All of the legends, from Michael Jackson to Madonna, were blockbuster touring acts.
