According to recent polls, 61% of French view the EU unfavorably. In 2005 the French people voted down the draft constitution, shocking French leaders. The Front Nationale has promised a referendum on EU membership if they are elected.

So this could have a snowball effect.

French people aren't dumb, this will just be a 2002 remake. French will show their disagrement by voting for Marine LePen during the first round then they will stick to the usual party and Marine will just do as bad as her father during the second round.

Oh no I totally agree. Some issues should never be compromised on, especially human rights.

Hillary has been very much consistent though. She has always represented the more moderate liberalism.

Unfortunately those who are moderate are often viewed as enemies to those to their left and right.

And I totally am fine with that. I generally think the middle path is the best path, with some occasional variations to either the right or the left – depending on what the context of the times calls for (I don't think a government should ever pursue ONLY liberal or conservative policies, I think they can blend together quite nicely). My biggest qualm with Hillary has been that she has presented herself as more progressive than moderate throughout the primary, and seems to do that quite often. I understand she's a politicians and that's historically what some politicians do, I just don't like it. I wish she wouldn't present herself as something else solely for political gain (like attempting to match Sanders in her "progressive-ness" so to speak). As a moderate brand, I can respect her, but it bugs me to no end when she sells herself to different demographics as something contrary to what she herself believes. It's what adds to the notion that she's calculating and more dedicated to her own advancement than to her set of beliefs (which I hold every politician to, not just her).

And I'll wait for you to stop being a sour grapes about Brexit lmao

Huh?

I've already said that I didn't really care about the result. I wish my British mate a bright future, and I'm glad EU will be able to evolve. How is that being a sour grapes?

Although I totally LUV this result and am glad the UK gave the EU the middle finger, there is so much instability right now. We are living in confusing times. I feel like only the lead single to LG5 can solve this problem and bring the world together so Gaga needs to hurry up. :excuseu:

Well "moderate" is still a range on a continuum.

It's actually a disservice to call her a moderate, especially since she has historically been quite liberal even ranking 11th most liberal senator throughout her tenure.

What she has done is shift towards more progressive approaches.

I only call her a moderate liberal because she's not so extreme in her positions that she would alienate those who disagree with her. She tries to work for all Americans not just for her constituency.

In any case it's normal for a candidate to shift their paradigms to garner more support. She's trying to take into account the desires of those who do not support her. I don't see how that's a bad thing. Hillary was actually the one to push Obama further to the left for example.
