They do say that humanity/history is cyclical.

It's a warning sign though.  Everything is pointing to this world rolling back the clock on progress.  Build a wall!  Leave the EU!  Ban the Muslims...unless they kill gays maybe!  Let the immigrants drown!   Police the bathrooms!   It just feels like we are reverting to something.....something more primitive.

Well, right-wing ideology is becoming more popular in Europe and elsewhere with the recent economic downturn and immigrant crisis, etc. Not sure if Brexit is part of that right-wing rise though.

i mean... it's slowly been dropping to 51% plus the government can actually say no to the result if they want :laughga:

I was gonna ask that, is there anything legally binding about this referendum? Like the government doesn't have to actually implement whatever the result is right?

Another middle finger to the establishment! That's what they get for selling out western civilization to multinationals and the Islam. Bye, European Union! Clinton is next to get the BOOT!

No its not legally binding, but it'd be political suicide if they did ignore it

You should come to the Middle East. You'd fit right in.

It depends on the outcome. "Political suicide" doesn't happen when the decision is 50/50.

Democracy played a prominent role in voting Leave.

If the government said no, imagine the civil unrest that will occur? :O

In my messy era.

If the result is within an insignificant margin (~1%) then I don't see how this vote would be binding, especially on something at this scale.

Well I guess so (and honestly, if it secured staying in the EU I wouldn't even care) but it would be completely uncharted territory for a country that rarely holds national referenda, which only really came about due to Cameron's own fear of the rising right parties.
