Earth and Venus will be indistinguishable (unless you count our moon) in a billion or so years thanks to the sun's death throes, but just global warming won't cause that. If the previous cycle of Earth's climate continues we'll be looking forward to another ice age in the next few thousand years. But we do have a scary amount of power when it comes to our climate and pumping out all these greenhouse gases is not the right thing to do at all. People are waking up to it though, I just hope it isn't too late like some scientists say. Here's a little lesson for you two: Venus is a super hot planet that was probably once like Earth (maybe not with as much water) However, intense volcanic activity caused a covering of it's atmosphere that didn't let the infrared light escape once it hit the planet. It kept on bouncing around within the atmosphere and heating it up. The same is currently with Earth; except it has to do with our greenhouse gases. Visible light is coming in from the sun, but it isn't escaping as fast as it's coming in, because it's being blocked by greenhouse gases. This visible light that has turned into infrared bounces around and is causing our planet to slowly heat up over time. This isn't an overnight process. It takes millions of years. Also, along with this process comes more extreme weather conditions. The Earth, yes, but hopefully we'll be off somewhere else by then But because it's life is half over it's going into an expansion phase and getting hotter as it burns through fuel faster. Earth has about 500 million to a billion years left before life won't be able to live here anymore because the water will evaporate. I know you weren't completely against my post It's just that we are going to be a hot planet before the sun gets to red-giant phase, due to the excess greenhouse gasses being pumped out. Unfortunate it's going to happen; however, there will most likely be very few humans left when that happens. I live a few miles away from NASA (Cape Canaveral) and have always wanted to work with them. We'll put trillions into annihilating each other but we can't properly fund the agency that's responsible for literally thousands of advancements. This planet has withstood so much in its ~4.5 billion year life and what's going to "kill" it is a race of primates who refuse to take care of it. Well...what's going to speed up its death.
