For an artist as colossal as Katy is right now, coming off of a huge era and with a massive lead single and humongous promo campaign, these are very, very disappointing numbers.

It wouldn't be so disappointing if she were an artist not in the perfect set-up for high debut numbers, but she was and couldn't hack it. Fortunately for her, she still managed to get #1 in spite of this.

Prism is the most boring album ever. It's just filler, cheap filler, not even innovative or slightly out of her comfort zone.

Deleted the album after few listened since it was so blend. This album could fit in 2008 tbh.

I'm sure Gaga can do better than Prism. We got the attendance for the first few US shows of the BTWB and there were over 33,000. We don't know the attendance for the next 14 dates. And Live Nation claimed there were around 200,000 tickets sold for the cancelled shows. Add all that up, and her US attendance was over 400,000. At least. It's safe to assume that 99% of those tickets were sold to true fans by this point. It was the last stop of her tour with an album that was over 2.5 years old and had been forgotten about by the public. So, I think those numbers were an accurate representation of how many actual fans she has. If all those who attended buy a copy in the first week, plus the public to help out, she could do 400,000+ copies easily. Though I'm hoping for more.

This would be a good time to remind all US Gaga fans to BUY A COPY OF ARTPOP IN YOUR OWN COUNTRY. I'm hearing many American members here saying they've pre-ordered a physical copy from Amazon UK because they want the special foil edition and the UK site is the only one that guarantees the foil edition when you preorder. This will not count as a US sale because it was purchased through a foreign site. Is it really worth sacrificing Gaga's US debut week sales because of some irrelevant foil cover? It's not like you're going to sell your beloved copy of ARTPOP in the future when this special edition is worth a lot of money, will you?

If there's anyone who karma is going to bite, it's Katy. It was all revealed that her album was indeed scheduled for next year, but she rushed things to get it released earlier. Notice how she announced all her new material details shortly after Gaga, and they were all 2 weeks or so ahead of her plans? There's no way that was unintentional. I think she wanted to jump in ahead of her because she was that confident that with her last successful era and America loving her, that she could steal Gaga's thunder. She was scared that Gaga would take over if she waited until next year to release and she may get overlooked. It was one of the worst cases of playing dirty that I'd ever seen. It's on par with the geeky girl sending out invites to her party and then the popular girl announces a party on the same day "by coincidence." I said that I hoped karma would get Katy eventually for this little stunt. Sure, Roar went to #1 and the album gave her the best critical reception of her career, but then things started to go downhill...Her promotional truck crashed, she was called out on plagiarism concerning Roar, Walking On Air was a damp squib of a promo single, the album garnered a very mixed reaction from fans who thought it was full of filler, her first week album sales worldwide were lacklustre and Unconditionally is going absolutely nowhere despite being a follow up to Roar. Looks like this is going to be her BTW. Only BTW had better critical reviews and better sales. If there's one thing she's going to have in common with BTW, it could be that Prism doesn't win any Grammys.

Actually, the foil edition is for both the US and the UK pre-orders. Gaga included the US link in her tweet talking about the foil edition and Amazon itself confirmed it to be true.

The difference between the US and UK pre-order editions is that the UK edition comes with the Swinefest DVD while the US version does not.

And as for the whole karma thing, it serves her right really for thinking she could overshadow Gaga and become the next big thing when Gaga hasn't released anything in 2.5 years. Not to mention the massive following Gaga has that will undoubtedly purchase the album on release day or in the first week.

Katy perry has nothing on that, no matter what shenanigans her and her label try to play.

Katy Perry's song "Spiritual" from PRISM is a copy of Belinda's "Gaia" (I think she is a Spanish singer?).and her song came out 3 years ago.

Belina's song was written and composed by her father Nacho Peregrin and Belinda & produced by Jimmy Harry.

Listen for yourself.

Sorry, I don't know if this has been posted already.

I'm not a fan of Katy Perry at all (actually I pretty much hate what she represents), but these comparisons are usually pretty shallow and not really well thought out. We probably both hate it when its between Gaga and Madonna, so why do it to other artists?

I just saw it on youtube and thought I'd post it on here, since they do sound very similar. Not trying to hate on her, I like Katy Perry, myself.

Alright. I'm not trying to hate on you either. I just don't like the implied ideas/assumptions behind the whole concept of comparing songs like this.

I get what you are saying. And I know it brings a certain amount of negativity, but we discuss a lot of things on here, so why not this? I was pretty surprise actually, at the fact that they sound sooo similar. Esp after the whole "Roar" & "Brave" comparisons.

Plus its not Katy who is to be blamed, its the producers who choose to copy.

A Spanish singer? Why are these "copies" always from people who nobody has ever heard about? :smh:

Anyway, I'll have to say this again and again: Both melodies aren't very original. You'll find 1000 variations.
