Antidote 95
Yes. If you admire someone and that person says mean things...sure it hurts. But I think that's long ago now and Gaga realised that Madonna is pressed about other people being younger and replacing her
ByeBye49 161
It probably stung for a little, but I think she is over it.

SEANGT 5,257
get that hit thread, travis i'm in the Gaga has moved on camp. She's trying to find out who she is still. That's why she seems scattered. If her idols were supportive instead of rude it definitely would have helped though. So though she's moved on emotionally, it's still effecting her. The Child 18,997
What an asinine thing to say. The truth is, Madge was sweet to Britney because nobody is threatened by Britney Spears. The past 3 years have shown many people to be threatened by Gaga. Madonna had the perfect chance to jump on the anti-Gaga train and get attention for her sub-par new album and superbowl performance. Nobody is threatened by Britney ? Let me laugh, what about Xtina and all the others of her generation that are irrelevant. ‘If religion be the cause of disunity, then irreligion is surely to be preferred.’ ‘Abdu’l-Bahá
Scarlet Witch 1,630
If I were Madonna, and a new popstar is getting inspired by me, I'd be flattered. This isn't a rumor - there's evidence from both sides verifying it. Gaga told Jay Leno in an interview that "I got an e-mail from her people and her, sending me their love and complete support on behalf of the single and if the queen says it shall be, then it shall beâ€. However, CNN asked Madonna's publicist and she said that an email like that had never been sent. Basically, Gaga flat out lied in attempt to cover herself during the BTW/EY controversy and it backfired. I posted an article from a reputable source (The Hollywood Reporter) on the last page with all of this info. Who knew which side really lied?
Snow 1,582
Madonna was actually very complimentary towards Gaga when she was starting out and went with her daughter to The Fame Ball. She has a reputation for being a b---h which isn't really true - she's usually very supportive of other female pop stars like Britney Spears, Kylie Minogue, Katy Perry, Beyonce, etc to name a few whom she's specifically praised and attended their concerts. She would act the same way towards Gaga if it weren't for the BTW/EY controversy. The songs are pretty similar and, remember, Gaga actually lied and said she got an email okaying it from Madonna when there never was an email as M's publicist confirmed. Besides, I really don't think she remembers or cares about that at all now two years later.
Lady Palutena 3,147
I found this image on the net, I think it pertains to this very topic. Or it could be Bowie or Grace Jones Adoremus in caelum, Palutena. Dea luminis.
Haldy 1,258
I'm sure it hurt. And shame on Madonna for not being more diplomatic about the whole thing. Yeah, I think it stung Gaga deeply, especially when Madonna went and started openly mocking Born This Way and Gaga at the MDNA tour.
pachinko 10,376
The only reason Madonna is still selling is because Michael Jackson died. People want to say "I went to see Madonna....." when she dies. She is a living legend. I dont even like her and I recognize that.
Lassex 1,169
Of course it hurt Gaga at first because she had so much respect for Madonna. Then she realized Madonna is being childish and she shouldn't care about her. So I believe she ''gave a f**k'' about Madonna in 2012 but not anymore. MelbHawker 6,583
Well it's not like Madonna created all of this on her favor, the media were stirring the pot long before Madonna even released MDNA, and when she did, the press was also all over herself asking her about Gaga... So I would say that Madonna only took advantage of the situation that the media put her and Gaga through in smarter way than Gaga did. Madonna used it for publicity, while for Gaga, she clearly felt aggravated. Madonna never created any of it, true. The media were drawing comparisons between Madonna & Gaga from the beginning of Gaga's absolute Pop Culture take over for that reason alone. Naturally, Madonna capitalised on all the comparisons once BTW was released - as soon as BTW dropped, 'copy', 'plagiarism' were used to describe it and every chance Madonna could, she manipulated it so she could come out on top/tarnish Gaga's reputation. The shade was never blatant 'I Hate Her' etc. but it always made sure it seemed like Gaga did copy Madonna. Anyhow, post-BTW Madonna used her Tour to continually shade Gaga. That's what probably angered Gaga the most... it just wasn't very professional at all IMHO, it was just plain nasty. Gaga kept it classy & remained supreme in my eyes and that's not because I stan for her. She released a song that was significant, she loves it and it means something to people - she never once retaliated in a bad way even though she was being provoked. MonsterOfSpain 8,318
And let's be realistic, Madonna had a choice of using Express Yourself and Born This Way on the MDNA Tour. She had a choice to use a backdrop showcasing little monsters eating cans of recycled iconography. But she didn't. And that reason is obvious. I don't understand this
thefamebitch 833
I definitely think it hurt Gaga. As an artist on the rise I think she tried to use Madonnas as a guide in many way. I think when Madonna did what she did I definitely think it shocked Gaga. It was probably the first time one of her huge inspirations kinda made fun of her/ Born This Way. Bradley 59,023
I don't think she gets affected by her much. Now after the feud started, she's fine with her not liking her. She basically only values her art and her fans now. And she's happy, that's what matters.
