thefamefatale 264
I like the words and her voice, just not a song I'd listen to for fun. It's depressing as ****. And it's not that interesting to listen to. Like why the **** would you wanna listen to that song? I'd rather listen to IWBWY. lol. don't be a drag
blacklistedd 599
Never liked her vocals and I found it surprising that it was as critically accepted as it was. People actually complimented her vocals on that track I was like really? They're just too much to me I don't really care about the intent. Not to mention that the song is about her marijuana addiction *eye roll* I found her whole obsession with weed so try hard as it was let alone there being 2 songs on the album devoted to the phase. Although, I did appreciate the raw minimalism of the track.
PopBitch 1,218
I really like the song but agree her vocals become wearing after a while on the album on that song after I listened to it a few times. do love to hear it live every once in a while, though. I get chills when she performs it live.

I can admit I don't like Dope that much, but this is the kind of **** on GGD that pisses me off. Just plain disrespectful. Who the hell are you to belittle her experience with it? But alright, dude, keep your opinion. It shows what kind of cynical, ignorant person you are.

Who the hell are you to belittle her experience with it? But alright, dude, keep your opinion. It shows what kind of cynical, ignorant person you are. I am cynical but I am not ignorant. My point of view on the matter of her weed thing is not disrespectful either. If she feels she was addicted to it I don't disregard that as nonsense, I agree that people can be addicted to it and I don't doubt at all that she likes smoking. I just think the way she went about parading her adoration for ganja was so try hard and annoying. She was like one of those girls in school that would talk really loud about how she smokes weed so that everyone can know she smokes weed because it probably made her feel edgy or something. It was just so contrived. And lyrically Mary Jane Holland exemplifies in song what I found annoying about her whole weed trip with dressing as an mj princess for halloween and saying **** like princess die high lol like come on. And then Dope was like partially her trying to turn all that annoying nonsense into something reflective and mature. I think theres more to that song than weed though, and I like how raw it is. So while I dislike the weed reference in Dope and I don't like her vocals. I can at least appreciate the raw minimalism of the track and the emotional intent delivered. RAMROD 109,497
Well, even Gaga do not sing it anymore, cos she said it is too depressing and she wanna move on from her past. (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ✧*:・゚ dancin' until i'm dead (*´艸`*) ♡♡♡

Wet Fire 7,477
It's one of Gaga's career best and no, I'm not being delusional. It's an epic ballad with soulful, raw, heartbreaking vocals. It actually makes me cry everytime I listen to it. When an amotional song makes the listener cry, there lies the success of the musician. And Gaga did succeed with Dope. Rick Rubin is a mastermind producer. The lyrics are the best on the album. "Mine myself like coal/Mountain of a soul/Each day I cry/Oh, I feel so low from living high" proves what a songwriting genius Gaga is. The vocal performance is among Gaga's bests ever besides The Edge of Glory, Bad Romance, Gypsy, Speechless, Do What U Want, Yoü and I amd The Lady Is a Tramp. Dope is a masterpiece. :legend:
