Lady Gaga wowed the crowd when she played an hour-long set of jazz standards at the annual amfAR Inspiration Gala on Thursday night in Los Angeles. The event honored Ryan Murphy for his impact on the television and film industry, as well as his work to fight AIDS.

"I love Ryan so much, and I'm so, so happy to be here. He's really my friend and he's a wonderful person," said Gaga, who stars in the latest season of Murphy's show American Horror Story. She added: "Since I met Ryan, I have rediscovered something in myself, and it's my favorite part of me so thank you. I think it's because you appreciate the part of me my Christian guilt is mortified by."

Mother Monster played a handful of jazz classics, including "I Can’t Give You Anything But Love," "Little Coquette," "Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered," "Bang Bang (My Baby Shot Me Down)," "Lush Life," "Call Me Irresponsible," and "La Vie En Rose."

Lady Gaga finished her set with a performance of her emotional ballad "Til It Happens To You," telling the crowd simply, "We're all in this together."

This year's amfAR Gala raised over $3 million toward HIV/AIDS research. Lady Gaga contributed to the total by bidding a winning $200,000 on a photograph of Elizabeth Taylor taken in 2001.
