Cas Winchester 195
Hmm. I think she meant it as a way to push back against those saying she's "too gay", "you like lady gaga? are you gay?". Don't let some of the posts on here get to you. I hope she learned her lesson after the BTW/EY fiasco tqfh :MANiCURE:
Optimus 298
well she's where she is because of the gays, so i understand why she would honor the LGBT community. and btw, don't start with the "she's excluding her straight fans" bull****... Most of the music industry excludes the LGBT community so don't be a party pooper. Out ot iTunes top 300 and her album not even going platinum in USA? This is where she is now because of her music being gay. - Anyhow, She is a musician. She needs to make music for everyone. Because of straight people she has sold 26M albums so far and more than 150M records. Musc has no gender neither s-xuality.

Optimus 298
But ??????? What I meant was that when she debuted with The Fame she made music for everyone, not just gays. And people liked her and bought her albums. And after that she went way too far with her gay music(BTW) and she just lost tons of fans.
Sakrai 4,759
:awkney: mess. She didn't say her music was EXCLUSIVELY gay. She said it was gay, as in camp, which it is. Im proud of gagz for saying that. Her music IS gay, and her art is flamboyant, over the top, ambiguosly s-xual, and camp. She doesn't have to comform to the norm. And it's not like she does it on purpose. She's not TRYING to appeal to gay audiences, she just does because her art draws from their culture, as well as glam and rock and theatre. Get over it. Oh, I'm just visiting-

MurderLipstick 44
It's because 50 Cent made a comment how the Fame Kills was going to be the "gay tour".
Whispering 18,865
The bigger question here, imo, is wtf was Kanye saying with his statement? Gaga to Kanye West after he told her to make her show "less gay" for their tour: What do you think Kanye West would say if someone told him to make his show "less black"? No wonder Gaga snapped back with a rather defensive reply! Look at things in context, people!
Willy Wonka 4
My issue isn't alienation with this- it's generalizations and perpetuation of stereotypes.

aaronyoji 2,054
Poor you feeling alienated from a pop star for exactly the length of time it took you to read that. You have no idea what real alienation is like. She was saying this because people thought her music was "too gay" - her point was that being gay wasn't a bad thing. Nobody ever talks about "straight music" being bad. You just don't know what it's like, period, and I definitely don't sympathize with your so-called "straight alienation." We should all be so alienated.
Mich 397
This comment irks me. “Let's get one thing straight before we decide to do this together: I’m gay. My music is gay. My show is gay. And I love that it’s gay. And I love my gay fans, and they’re all going to be coming to our show. And it’s going to remain gay.†- Lady Gaga What about uniting people through music? Isn't that what it's all about? Why does music have to be "gay" or "straight"? I don't get why it has to have such a label on it? By stating such a thing specifically why would you wanna narrow it down as an artist yourself? I know for gay people it might be a good feeling seeing her state something like this specifically but to me personally I never seen her music as gay or straight or lesbian or whatever, she is an artist with great skills herself, what does it matter in what "box" it belongs? Wait. So you're upset about something she said 5 years ago? **** I can't even remember half the stuff I said and believed in 5 years ago, people change. Not sure why you feel this is relevant to anything seeing as she has clearly had a huge transformation not only as a pop star but even within her own mindset and the equality she stands for. Personally, I don't mind- she gave voice and attention to many groups that have been marginalized and alienated by society as a whole. In an objective manner, I totally understand the whole "straight alienation" thing, what with demographics and such. But personally, I don't particularly care- she made music for everybody. And not everybody as in straight-as-default everybody, but everybody as in including everybody. 3 points in and ready for more
