HighwayGuy 1,498
I feel like because GUY is not generic and quite a different song on radio they don't want to risk playing it :( especially because it's not a lead single and people may not understand the song on first listen.. Still hoping there is some big promotion that happens to get people listening to it!
Pure Adrenaline 1,518
This is what gets me about some of you Lady Gaga fans. For years many of you called every other singer and band under the sun a flop in comparison to Lady Gaga, but you hate it now she's no longer #1 or outselling people like Katy Perry. Maybe if a lot of you hadn't become so cocky and ahead of yourselves people wouldn't be enjoying her diminishing success so much at the moment. Part of the reason why the general public are losing interest in Gaga is because of you "Little Monsters". You have such a negative reputation in the media, it really does put people off. You troll YouTube videos, you send vile tweets to more successful people like Adele, and you bully other people via Facebook. Now THAT really is undeserving. I really can't help but laugh when you Gaga fans claim that you're now here for the music as opposed to chart positions and sales when everyone knows you wouldn't be taking this stance if Gaga was still scoring #1 singles and going Platinum in the US, you're only taking this stance now because she's no longer #1 and you can no longer throw around facts and figures to downplay other people's success. Take Katy Perry for example. When Unconditionally didn't make the top 20 in the US there were a lot of Gaga fans rubbing their hands together and saying that he downfall had finally begun. Then what happened? That's right, Dark Horse became a huge hit. A lot of you fans never learn, you still get ahead of yourselves and cocky. And what exactly are you waiting to happen that will shut people up? G.U.Y. is a major bomb, ARTPOP won't be going Platinum in the US or the UK any time soon, there have even been reports of free tickets being given out ahead of some US tour dates due to empty seats. Maybe Gaga will bounce back with her next album, but she's going to have to work hard to get the general public back on her side because a lot of people are over her and bored with her right now. She's had the biggest climb and the biggest fall in pop music since The Spice Girls. I'm very happy for u, it seems that u are not wasting ur free time. I do hope that now, after putting so much effort into this, that u are proud of urself. Should I give u a big round of applause, here continue putting ur input and contribution to the society. It's much more fun to have hizophrenia... u never get lonely

Gaga can't always be on top. If her singles aren't successful as before, It DOESN'T MEAN People lost interest, simply, Gaga makes mistakes in promo or radios don't give her much support. FOR EXAMPLE DWUW is a obv HIT but Gaga didn't release the video so It's a mistake. G.U.Y. is a huge hit, but radios don't play it. Stop with bull**** about People losing interest, if they like the song, THEY BUY IT.

Bt1 5,213
I agree, it is their choice...and that's why I blame them! It was radio's choice to give a song + 1 million updates (or close to it) for a couple of weeks, when that song was higher on iTunes. It was also their choice to add a song, but not play it during waking hours, from an artist who has given them 11 top 10 hit songs over the past five years. If there was room in radio stations playlists to fit a 200s iTunes song in MULTIPLE times at the most valued times, then there was room for a couple of spins a day from a song from Gaga... while listeners were actually awake. Radio is biased and plays extreme favorites, and yes, I blame radio for not playing a Gaga song, after all her hits over the past five years. There are several factors involved in this whole situation, but radio definitely gets a large portion of the blame. They never gave the song a valid chance, and a third Pop single has to have radio support! Ok. So we agree but we dont agree. If you really want, you can blame radios, but I still think that first we should blame the management. There were too many risks taken with GUY and none helped the song. brizoda 3,857
The underperformance of GUY in the USA, its happening around the world, I don't understant why radios don't play the song
Bt1 5,213
birthday was in the 900s on itunes and it was getting better updates than when G.U.Y. was at the 200s. We cant see nothing but Katy Perry. She is the exception. She has another song in top 3 on radio, so radios will be for a time open to the next single. Gaga wasnt in the same situation. Her managament also helped build the exposure for the song. They announced the single, put a lyrics video out, did some interviews, added it to radio and then the offficial video. With GUY everything happened in a week and that was all.

The change of managers in the middle of the era hurt it so much.

Foivos 64
Shady Gaga is back... I hope ,at least she does anything to support this chartwise.
TheFame Monster 8,949
We cant say that GUY has flopped, but we also cant say its a hit. It still has time to rise. The biggest mistake with G.u.Y. was releasing the video first and sending the song to radios 3 weeks later. Maybe if it becomes a hit in the UK then it might rise in the US , I don't know, but I say give it another month and lets see how it goes!

They announced the single, put a lyrics video out, did some interviews, added it to radio and then the offficial video. With GUY everything happened in a week and that was all. That usually makes a new single move SLOWER, not FASTER like it did with BD. Having a song in the top 3 and a FOURTH single barreling up the charts at breakneck speed just doesn't happen! (well, except for one person) Roll outs for singles can come in a million different ways. Many don't have lyrics videos, many videos come out the day or week of release and some even before the release. Interviews are done at radio stations and it doesn't matter when they are done. They are pay for radio play and oftentimes, due to schedules or tours, they are done before the payback is in motion. The add date doesn't matter either. An add date can be the day of release, a week, two weeks, four weeks later or a song can never have one. There is nothing right or wrong about any of the above approaches...I've seen all of them fail and I've seen all of them produce a successful single. There isn't a perfect blueprint to go by or a perfect rollout plan that works the majority of the time. It really is a toss up! Radios play what they want to play!
