Applause 650
I find it hilarious how Putin has the world talking/in suspense, and surrounded a country by literally doing nothing yet.. Please don't take this as pro-Russian I'm just saying its crazy he can do this Not true, he has 1000's of troops on the ground there. Xalser

Cupid 760
Many peolpe seem to forget the fact that the Ukrainian government may as well start things by attacking russians in the Crimean-area. Everyone is talking about Putin and how he will pull the trigger but we all know the Ukrainian president does not like Putin AT ALL and may get so fed up he sends troops and pull the trigger. Pandora 162
Not true, he has 1000's of troops on the ground there. Well that's what I meant. He just came in without having to fire one shot, nor did the Ukrainian military have to 'fight back'

That's besides the point, Russian troops shouldn't be there. The signed contracts saying they wouldn't. "Britain, the US and Russia signed the Budapest Memorandum of 1994 – a deal in which Ukraine gave up its ex-Soviet nuclear weapons, thus ensuring they would not be stolen or misused. In return the three outside powers promised that Ukraine would not be subject to aggression or economic coercion and that its borders would be inviolable." craig 680
I think if Putin wanted Eastern Ukraine he'd grab it now, before opposing forces get organized. Just like it Georgia, he only took the Russian enclaves. Edited March 4, 2014 by craig

It seems like Russia doesnt want to give up its "empire". When will Moldova gets invaded?
Economy 52,842
If the Americans were the ones who sent troops somewhere without being asked to "maintain order" all of a sudden everyone would be praising them But now that its Russia that is involved in maintaining order (which makes sence since the issues involves Russians in Ukraine) all of a sudden Russia is evil Just saying That's besides the point, Russian troops shouldn't be there. A significant percentage of the population of Ukraine supports further dealings with Russia instead of the EU. The Country is divided Russia is involved in the equation and sent in troops to maintain order not steal the island or anything The media just presents things in a way that makes Russia seem so evil

USA always got criticized on "invading" other countries. Anyway,Russia and USA are both not very popular anymore at the general public. Russia thanks to Putin and USA thanks to NSA scandal. craig 680
Russia is holding a secession referendum in Crimea, and it will no doubt vote to join Russia or become an independent Russian satellite state. That will make it MUCH harder for pro-Russian parties to win in Ukraine. Apparently Crimea supported the ousted President by 78% in last election, giving him a 3% victory.. And I don't see what having a freaking navy in the Black Sea does for Ukraine's security or well-being. Edited March 4, 2014 by craig
