Just days into the 2026-27 school year, the Manitowoc Public School District is urging families to talk with students about gummies and other ingestible products. The warning comes after what the district described as an increase in medical incidents involving minors in the community.

The federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says cannabis use during adolescence may affect brain development, including memory, learning, attention, decision-making, coordination and reaction time.

How do kids even have these in their possession in the first place?  I'm not from the USA, but I imagine they can't just go buy them at the supermarket

Can be bought online, can be stolen from parents cupboards etc

Hot take but drugs and candy should have never been mixed in the first place.

They say THC/marijuana is medicinal? Fine. Make it into a medicine then. Don't mix it into gummies, candy, desserts, and whatever else and then pull a  when kids start using them.

Make it as appealing to kids as Tylenol or something.
