Snowyrain 38
Where is the smash hit? 19 Lady Gaga - Do What U Want (feat. R. Kelly) 0.2883 0.2941 - I think Applause was a smash. I don't know maybe 2M is not that good but I mean everyone is bopping to that song.
Luc 4,775
Straight men outnumber gays so much, we're still a more valuable audience. And if straight guys despise something enough or think it uncool, it can rub off on their girlfriends. And we don't hate a good song by Diva G just because we've lifelong fans of Diva B or C. We just don't talk about liking pop music in public much. When talking about "we're", were you talking about gay men or straight men? Ah yes, but honestly, she just doesn't need to try too hard to be honest. This era she's sent like 20 tweets to random straight men who were talking about how they secretly were listening to a Gaga song and she was like "Busted!", and it seems like she cares too much about them, I mean, she was searching for things like "secretly applause" "gaga straight" and such on Twitter
Creyk 18,107
Fanbases never appreciate what they have. Like my other fave Kylie - she had 3 UK Platinum studio albums with singles and tour success since Fever, but a lot of her online fans spent each era moaning it wasn't as successful as Fever and theorizing about what she ought to do. Oh, a Kylie fan! I have no idea who that is but I know she is somebody What is her best non-single song? Tell me I wanna listen tbh.

Here she's popular, not very popular - but Gaga has low amount of support from gays it seems, when I went to the BTWBall I noticed that the majority were either just females or emo girls/gothics. Applause was far from a smash, I'd say a smash sells at least 7-8M WW, and Applause is nearing 3M now.
Bt1 5,213
There isn't the video on their official channell http://www.youtube.com/user/NBCTheVoice/videos Only US people can see it.
craig 680
What is her best non-single song? Tell me I wanna listen tbh. I would suggest Light Years, Dreams (ballad), or Speakerphone (electro).

They are more likely to listen to hip hop/rap, alternative rock, rock, folk, country or EDM. For the most part, straight white guys are not big fans of the pop girls. As always, there will be exceptions. ;)
Lion Heart 15,041
Vote if you haven't done so today. http://katy-perry.org/ru.html These weak updates are expected anyways, once January comes around, we'll fare better. ▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀

Mariano 958
Nah, it had the hamster commercial. It was being played in the clubs on weekends and at sporting events on every level. A video can be a big plus for a song, but it can also be a complete non-factor. I can name dozens of songs that I have downloaded after hearing them on the radio, commercials, or on streaming services. I have no idea what the videos that accompany these songs look like. I have never seen the mv that goes along with several of my favorite songs at the moment and I don't plan on spending the time to look them up. I liked a certain song, so I bought it and enjoy listening to it, that's what the average music buyer does. In the real world, outside of the internet super fandom, people have no idea if there is a video to DWUW or not and they don't care! Unless a video gets widespread attention (like Wrecking Ball), real life average music listeners and buyers don't pay much attention, if any, to videos. xaxaxaxa ok. Me, Luc, AURA and some others made the applause video 120M Views ...

I like pop girls, and love EDM like you said, but I actually agree with this argument, people around me, including some of my friends judge me because I like Gaga ... It hurt her, because most adult guys are already hardcore Madonna, Britney, etc fans, and were resenting her success.. For the most part, straight white guys are not big fans of the pop girls. As always, there will be exceptions. ;) I'm just saying even if gay guys are (say) 8 times more likely to be pop fans, there is still enough straight male pop fans to outnumber them overall. monketsharona 86,989
To me that's just reductive to say there is gay or straight music. Music is for everyone, everybody has his own taste. Pop is not made for gay or girl like rap / hip-hop is not aimed to straight people. Personally I love both pop and rap music... I love Gaga who is a gay friend and I love Eminem who is homophobe...
