mic 1,415
I think it's a marvelous song because she gets the point between commerciality and experimentalism I wanted her to get. It's not her making a 90's pop-r&b-inspired song cause it's cool right now, (DWUW), it's not her ruining some of the best verses and bridge she's ever done (Applause ones) with a silly chorus and a generic production, it's not her ruining one of her greatest ballads with a dated electropop production (Gypsy), it's her having a melody that could have just slayed them all and instead of going for the easy way and giving it some EDM beats she decided to let her artistic instinct flourish. I don't say you have to like Venus, you may dislike the final result, but you have to realize it's too brave of a popstar to make a song like that and even wanting it to be a single. For me, it's one of the only tracks where she was allowed to make whatever she wanted, without being forced to sound radio-friendly or to try to appeal new public like hip-hop lovers or weed consumers, it's, next to Aura, the only track where she's really herself. This this this!! Venus and Aura truly stand out and are the only ones with that legendary touch to me. Maybe Venus is not perfect as I said but at least it is experimental. All artist needs is to be consistent if you look like a freak, make freaky music. Songs like MANiCURE or Gypsy sound like they were made just to make GP happy in a basic way. aaronyoji 2,054
baseless thread tbh. the structure at least makes it interesting, thats what we need, less basic pop structures. plus venus's harmonies alone make it one of the best songs, its pure vocal genius. but because you dont see it as great, and because the structure forces your brain to get out of the whole ****ty pop music world that listeners are brainwashed into accepting, you take any appreciation people have for venus and declare it overrated. which its not, theres many different opinions about venus within this fanbase. I think it's a marvelous song because she gets the point between commerciality and experimentalism I wanted her to get. ItsTommyBitch 12,640
The only downside is the vocal on the verses "aphrodity lady, seashell bikini" etc. It's too high and drunk sounding. Other than those bits, it's insanely god-like. That line gives me more life than any other in the whole song though... Anyway. Its a great song. I can understand complaints about it seeming a little under-developed but i think it makes the song sound beautifully abstract. Esp with the lyrics of the verses. They are almost epithetical and really thematic. I do kind of wish she had the "Worship to the land, Goddess... seashell" thingy in the intro like she used to play @ the ArtRAVE pre June break. More intro's like G.U.Y, Aura, and the demo of MJH would've been exciting. I think the idea of intros/outros making the album seamless would've been really interesting and very ARTPOP as well 私自身もこの世の中も誰もかれもが, どんなに華やかな人生でも, どんなに悲惨な人生でも, いつかは変貌し, 破壊され、消滅してしまう. すべてがもともとこの世に存在しない一瞬の幻想なのだから
Gaga is Life 101
Well it's my favourite song on the album because of the way it sounds and the way it makes me feel
ShadesOfCool 1
Venus is not overrated, it's the best track on ARTPOP.
Luke78619 23,315
it is definately overrated! i mean, i like the song, but some say its the best on ARTPOP and is single worthy. tbh, i think the vocals are slightly too 'heavy' in a way, like MJH. i like the song, i think its very catchy, i just don;t think it is as good as everybody makes it out to be insta: good_lukeing | I have nothing else to promote
charsolheim 0
I HATED Venus when I first heard it. Hated it hated it hated it omg I was so dissapointed. I hated it for months. Then literally like 3 weeks ago, I was listening to the album while driving and I didn't skip it like I usually do and I had the volume up and for some reason, it finally hit me. Literally everything about ARTPOP hit me. I hadn't liked the album or concepts or fashion or anything of this era but as I sat there head-bobbing to Venus for the first time, it all clicked. I finally appreciate the playful experimentation of ARTPOP and I'm so glad. So thanks, Venus
SlaeUrAnus 15,955
It sounded unfinished. Sick chorus though. In my messy era.

Born To Slay 10,996
The pre-chorus and chorus is godly; vocals and instrumental and the verses are pure pop fun. I've never been a huge fan of the middle eight but the rest of the song completely makes up for it! I don't care whether gaga "produced" it (it was a joint effort between Madeon and her in my opinion since he gave her everything she used) or whoever else did, it's one of my favourite gaga songs because it's fun! This tbh
Leo 3,000
Which demo track from ARTPOP do you most want in full the most? We already have Mary Jane Holland and concept work from Applause, as well as Aura. There are snippets out there too. I'd most like Fashion! From the snippet I've heard, it sounds way better than the album version, and apparently it's the version that existed before will.i.am. I'd love to hear it in full :nooo:
