Tommymonster44 0
Wouldn't you say that the only reason why dance pop is no longer dominant is because the major dance pop artists who push it have been on hiatuses. Gaga, Katy, BEP, Britney, Usher pushed dance pop a lot in 2010, Nicki hasn't tried to release a dance pop song since Va Va Voom, Same for Rihanna who hadn't done so since WHYB before RN was released. But even so, electronica still finds itself within the top 10. Radioactive, Get Lucky, Come & Get It, Clarity -- that's 4 out of 10 itunes top 10. Electronica is deeply seated in our generation's palettes. It's a type of music that has been brewing since the 90's when most of us grew up and people won't just suddenly dislike it over night. We just need artists to push it to the next appropriate and progressive level -- not regurgitate the same **** for four years. Obviously, hard underground techno music won't do well on top 40, but elements of it should be incorporated. It's a process of mixing conventional and unconventional over time and I hope Gaga is doing that. This. It's not electronica that's going out of style. It's the electro-pop format that was big in 2010 that people are getting tired of. It's clear that people are here for EDM, but want something different. Not a regurgitation of electronic pop music that was big a few years ago.

Americano 31,061
Katy's VOGUE interview makes me think she has no new music any time soon. I'd push her back until holiday season. Single in October, album November.

Americano 31,061
KATY PERRY in VOGUE: Her other hand is in the midst of making her third pop album (her others have made her $45 million, according to Forbes), but she won’t talk about it: She even took back the words “halfway through,†which is where she’d first said the album was, “because that’s too much of a jumping-off point.†
