Starmie25 22,606
From my understanding Troye still has ownership over all things ARTPOP related, including the demos from ACT II. Annnndd i think Gaga hersrlf is content with ARTPOP and has no desire to return to those demos, cept maybe Brooklyn Nights which got performed in full during MAYHEM BALL, Melbourne. Her highest grossing tour. She got two big hits out of this album and still grabbing Grammys/ Emmys / Oscars from her recent stuff. Why would she'd be desperate to go back to her 2008/2013 nachos ? People want her evolving while still enjoying / respecting her old music. She's not Katy Perry. I think that’s recency bias. I think in about five years to ten years time, especially after LG8 and LG9, Mayhem will middle out. The internet creates a distorted perception of things and even reviews aren’t actually telling of how things will be perceived in the long run. ie: Summerboy having a moment and it being on tour or Bloody Mary becoming a big cultural moment is crazy. Most people reacted medium to Mayhem’s actual music the week it came out. I think positive press and it having a full marketing era (the bar was low) that was executed for once helped its image. Genuinely, outside of Abracadabra and Die With A Smile the music is relatively only popular within the gay community and fans here. I think it’s weird she didn’t push another single and opted for the immature and cheesy The Dead Dance….but to each their own. Ultimately Mayhem is a fun, well done, commercial pop album with touchstones of what we love about Gaga. But what a lot of biased fans don’t want to hear is this: It really does fail to create anything new though for her (which is categorically not very Gaga and loses a lot of what keeps people coming back) and also is her first album with genuine filler tracks (The Beast, Don’t Call Tonight, and Blade of Grass are nothing burgers and she can do better). it’s the epitome of a C album with an A era so it seems B-adjacent. Time will prove it was middling for her. Gaga has much more brilliant music in her still but it was not on Mayhem and fans blindly stanning and overhyping her all the time actually degrades her brand because new kids hear it and can tell it’s middle of the road and then don’t get the hype and never visit her actual gold. All because you all live in fear she is gonna flop. You’ll lie and say something is good that is not. I say this genuinely, if you actually love lady Gaga and care about her art it’s okay to critique the music and think it’s blah sometimes and call it out. It’s important to do that. She is tough. She isn’t offended by statements like that. She is a grown ass strong very powerful and intelligent woman. She can handle the opinions of internet twinks. Promise. That's why she's still seen as a big thing today, people will never know where she goes next. Like you said the day she releases some type of ARTPOP influenced music fans will let it down at the moment it does not do good in charts and call it a flop.
Alvitr 1,646
So it’s ok for Madonna to successfully do Confessions II and not Gaga successfully revisit ARTPOP and release act 2?? If Madonna can pull of a revisit, so can Gaga. LG8 out Soon

She already proved she can do that in the past It will be Dream trance, triphop, organica LG8 out Soon

If Madonna can pull of a revisit, so can Gaga. Madonna pulled off a revisit after 2 decades, a decade of consistent flopping and a near death experience just before what was believed to be a potential last hurrah tour. We only got Bat Out of Hell 2 from Meatloaf & Steinman after Meatloaf had a string of relative commerical flops. Gaga can revisit albums if she wants to But lets face it Revisiting albums and making sequels is for artists in their twilight years or artists who are flopping. Cherry Blues 391
I understand the longing for ARTPOP Act 2, but then she would have to record the songs from 2011 to 2013 right? ARTPOP itself is enough for me as an interesting piece of pop history and her discography. If I'm honest, I just barely like sequels, that's why I'm not interested in Madonna's Confessions 2 either.
