I feel kinda bad for Rihanna cause she's milked the whole absence from music thing for far too long. People have started to abandon her, I see a lot more "is Rihanna actually good?" discourse lately than I've ever seen. I feel she's the better pop star, but if R9 (if it ever comes) doesn't kind of justify why she's an artist, she's going to the Khia asylum

I’d say at least Rihanna still has her reputation/legacy largely intact. But that being said: I basically agree that both, imo, are basically hasbeens and, tbh, are artists I never found particularly interesting

They’re both good puppets.  

Neither of them are vocalists, Jfc…

they both get good teams to create aesthetics for them.  None of them could write a hit album by themselves, they need songwriters to do it for them.

katy def has better stage presence imo, actually, but Rihanna consistently has better music.

Overall I’d have to say I like Rihanna better as she has the better music, imo.. but neither have a one in a million type of talent or personality..

This is actually a good question.  Historically Katy has had some quintessential POP songs, and was kind of a phenomenon for a few years.  Obviously shes fallen on hard times  while desperately trying to remain relevant.  
 

Riahanna has never really given two shitz about anything. LOL shes always just shrugged her shoulders while cranking out some catchy-ass anthems, and once she hit her stride, there was no stopping her…until she stopped herself.  Now she REALLY doesn’t give two shitz.  
 

Their voices are actually kind of similar in a way - deeper /chesty, though I prefer Rihanna’s tone.  
 

I vote Rihanna because she amuses me and Only Girl in the World is one of the best pop songs of all time.
