chathonnete 1,048
Am I the only one disappointed that many gay icons don't share any message for pride this year ? I don't see pride as something superificial, but as a reminder that people are here for us, show support. I feel sad that Gaga and other celebs don't post anything while it's so important especually this year 4
PartySick 175,342
Of course it's disappointing. What's really disappointing is how many people don't think it's necessary. Whimsical bitch 2
loveandpeace 2,446
Totally agree. posting something on social media wouldn't even take five minutes ê€ïœĄËâ formerly known as Hebi đŠ

Ladle Ghoulash 55,400
Like clockwork, weâre having the âwhy didnât a famous queer icon virtue signal to their own fan base argumentâ again lol. A woman who performed Born This Way every night for the better part of the past year, mind you. Would it be a nice gesture? Sure. Do I think itâs necessary at this point? No. Iâm not even being defensive of her so much as I genuinely donât understand the weight/fixation that people place on posting something on social media. If you donât see Gaga as an advocate for and supporter of the LGBTQ+ community unless she posts something on IG, that borders on object impermanence lmao Edited June 23 by Ladle Ghoulash We have forgotten our public MANNERS 15 1

River 129,456
We don't need celebrities to have their 5 seconds of pride fame during pride month, we achieved what we achieved not thanks to their support but despite their support. Gaga is queer, she's celebrating pride all year, every year, every moment of her life, she doesn't need to prove this to anyone. Being disappointed by celebrities is kind of childish. So sploosh your juice all over me you Riverboy 10
AVeryGagaHolyDick 32,496
Over the years, Iâve learned to not expect too much from her (or other big celebs) and I donât support her financially. Iâm sure sheâs a great person and I love her, but I believe once youâve reached a certain level of fame, success and money, you automatically become disconnected from reality and you canât help it. Because itâs all about you and people always want something from you.And I believe sheâs right there. That does NOT mean she doesnât care or anything, but sheâs at a place where she wonât do too much and itâs okay. Sheâs done a lot for us, and it worked. But 2010Ga is kinda dead and I donât blame her for that. Itâs just something you canât avoid, me thinks. (unless your success isnât too big obviously.) I donât mind her not posting about Pride Month cause we know her heart is with us. What disturbs me more is the fact that she didnât say anything about the Madison Square Garden staff being unapologetically transphobic, or other things like that. Specific things she has some power over. Edited June 23 by AVeryGagaHolyDick 6 2
Bronco 28,658
Queer celebrities don't need to do a social media post to mark pride month. The issues the community faces exist outside of June and we need to stop focusing on this idea of funnelling all attention into a 30 day window once a year. I'm only disappointed when queer celebrities are silent when specific issues hit the news cycle/something specifical happens etc. Because thats when being vocal matters. The gays know how to party 7

People are dying and being discriminated against every single day. This puts an awful lot of weight on a social media post, tbh. Iâm not arguing against visibility, but making the stakes of posting âHappy Prideâ on IG about death and discrimination feels incredibly disproportionate. Especially when those same people posting Happy Pride were silent when Brianna Ghey was murdered in the UK for example. Or are staying silent over Ghanan politicians attempt to criminalise identifying as LGBTQ+. Or have said nothing about this recent case in Idaho https://www.advocate.com/news/crime/idaho-assault-hate-crime Or this case https://www.advocate.com/news/crime/myrtle-beach-hate-crime-lgbtq Or this case https://www.advocate.com/news/virginia-trans-student-sues And naturally, there are way more examples of things we need to talk about instead of just posting a rainbow flag on June 1st.
