RAYE New Album Gets 6.9 From Pitchfork

Sometimes, the most useful thing you can say to someone in the dark is that everyone is in it with you, too. This is, more or less, the album’s thesis: It’s a sad world, but we’re all going to die eventually, so it’s going to be alright. To make that medicine go down easier, RAYE costumes her fatalism in a baroque maximalism. “This is a sad song/Though it feels happy/It is not happy at all,” she sings in the third act. She robs the listener of the chance to figure it out themselves—but for the record, I never mistook this for a joyful ride.
 

Still, aestheticization has its limits. Like many an overhyped Broadway or West End production, several tracks offer a thrilling show, but I wouldn’t sit through them again.

Ngl a tiny bit too low (I’d say it deserves north of 7), but valid. She’s very talented and there’s some quality stuff on there, but a lot of the record is very corny boots 2015 era “self-help,” “girlboss” type sh*t.

6.9 is LOW, i agree, give RAYE her flowers because she is talented and she deserves it 1000%. She is extravagant, larger than life and wonderful. 8 at least

Id rate it around a 7.5/8.

Its a very very good album, but there are tracks I wont revisit unless doing a full album listen.
