Of the hundreds of thousands of words in your lexicon your brain chose that one when you saw me? Someone has probably already mentioned this, but you don't exactly "choose" your words with Tourette's, your brain chooses them for you. Given the sociocultural context you're living in, your brain often picks words it knows are inappropriate. We all know certain slurs are offensive, and our brains recognize that. However, if the brain lacks the ability to self-censor, it may impulsively select the most damaging word over a more innocent alternative precisely because of its weight. It's not a conscious decision. Former First Lady of the United States. We don’t know why he left the show, either because he was embarrassed or he had a very serious tics episode. And I’m sure Michael and Delroy are mature enough not to be offended by it, and if not then they lost any respect from me.. But the thing is that they do have the luxury to edit those comments out. Obviously for the people in the room, nothing could be done about that, but there is quite literally no reason for them not to edit those outbursts out. Not only would it have protected Davidson, but it would've protected Jordan, Lindo, and the BAFTAs too. And the reason is clear why he left...he had a serious tic episode and was embarrassed by what happened. There were no mentions of him being removed from the ceremony, so he left on his own accord because of what was happening to him. Jordan and Lindo handled it the best they could, both in the moment and after. Neither of them have shamed Davidson about it either. Lindo said he wished the BAFTAs handled it better, and on that, I agree. Much of the blame should be placed on the BAFTAs themselves. LateToCult 41,486
Chile, the BAFTAs should’ve never seated that man anywhere near the stage. And that man should’ve excused himself much sooner than the halfway point once he realized his Tourette’s was acting up.
27monster27 15,426
Something depressing I just learned that isn't being stated here: The could've edited this out. You know why? They edited out someone shouting "Free Palestine". They chose to get rid of that, but not a man with tourettes saying the N-word. It makes you think... he/him/his 1

I understand that he can't control it but I don't see how you can argue that there's no racism behind it when it only happened when he saw people the slur discriminates against lmao. Unfortunate situation for all involced but I don't think his condition absolves him from issuing an immediate apology. Mind you, this word has to be as gross as it is to the tourette’s haver, to even have it come out in this way. Their values align with yours. There’s nothing to complain about. You just clearly don’t get the disease.mp3

It’s pathetic that this has created discourse. The real story is asking why this was not edited out while someone shouting “Free Palestine” was. Is that phrase now more offensive than the literal N word?? Bc that’s actually outrageous to imply 3

HotLikeMexico 6,169
It’s icky how some of y’all are trying to minimize this situation is, especially with something as vile as the N word. Regardless, this is an uncomfortable situation for all parties involved. BAFTA also selectively censoring stuff but not this is also gross on their part.
