I just keep rewatching it, it's so good and fresh. Honestly? I prefer this to her VMA performance. I love how industrial and almost futuristic it looks with the robot camera and the lights/stage.

A few more details I really enjoy are her slowly reaching and turning her hand towards the drummer in the first shot, the framing and perspective are great. Then the way she crouches down into frame, the mirror shot with the warm light revealing her reflection, her shadow being cast onto Andrew Watt... then that sequence of slanted shots during the chorus. And the red lights exploding during the operatic part, the final moment where she erratically stumbles back to the keyboard!!! Damn how can people not see how cool this is :abra:

I'm in love, she should use this type of aesthetic more often.

I know. I love her dancing performances, but she has SUCH an intense and passionate energy, and sometimes that gets lost in the choreography, so when she is able to pose and emote and have a little bit more unbridled movement, she really shines on stage.

also... she's been touring her ASS off. it makes sense to build hype for REQUIEM in a way she could easily rehearse on the road: simple, designed movements to work with a robot arm. clever, efficient, and honed in on the craftsmanship of the song.

and so different from everyone else. I thought that's what we loved about Gaga!

It made me think of her David Bowie tribute performance (and/or maybe what she had planned originally for that night), albeit an edited and refined version. She's really been finding some golden inspiration in her "play a theater like it's a stadium" approach. Lots of creation from limitation, whether self-imposed or circumstantial. Refashioning former outfits is another example. For someone who can have and do nearly whatever she wants at will...how to choose, how to stay innovative, how to remain relatable, how to hone in on a vision? I'm proud of her for exploring this elasticity.

sorry, another post about this lol. we hosted a Grammys viewing party last night in Chicago and the crowd went UP in an insane way for this performance... silent with bated breath in some moments and screaming and jumping in others!

We viewed, and we chewed! :classy:
