K e n 781
What a ride. Sounds like she was really just having fun with friends when recording this one. Much more rock sounding than the singles might've led to believe. But overall sounds very cohesive. "Persona" and "I'm Afraid" are standouts for sure. And "Yeah"... she literally used 15 words for this one, Songwriter of The Year right there. Spoiler Love how she hid the rock version of "I Keep Thinking About You Every Single Day And Night" at the end of "Card Declined". SimonBaetens 9,468
I really like Camera and Persona. Wink Wink and SS26 are cute too. I appreciate the other tracks but feel like they're one time listens, more like an audio book than songs I wanna have on repeat. I'll give it more listens to for sure to get to know the album better. This is the first Charli project I don't absolutely adore from first listen, but I respect her choices and how she switches it up each time. when you're lonely, I'll be lonely too / https://www.last.fm/user/SimonBaetens
Freud 5,967
Listened to the whole Album & have very mixed feelings. I like the approach of it beeing very artsy and applaud charli for her boldness, but the loss of lyrical variety and lack of replay value, makes it a miss for me. Making the last Minute of the album 10 spoken words repeatedly is WILD. For me personally an artistic downgrade from Brat , and even Wuthering Heights Soundtrack. The only songs I see myself coming back to are SS26, WinkWink & Persona. I would rank it 5/10 ⭐
gumzy3000 7,896
This album is giving me an existential crisis. Yah, it’s edgy and different for Charli and it’s not as pretentious as it seems but lyrically feels a bit all over the place and the vocals don’t really try too hard but it feels confessional and raw. The last 2 tracks - Magic Metal Montana and No One Lasts Forever - are my favourite. It’s hard to describe how I felt after this album ended. I would say I feel “empty”, like a conscious blob of flesh on a rock in space. trolly troll troll
princedeeblebleble 3,595
I didn't expect to love it, since the songs by themselves don't realllly work well for me since they are so short but within the context of the album and as a whole body of work is a great album. Love the y2k pop rock sound of it, like it could have been for the angsty coming of age movie moments in the films. @SimonBaetens really nailed how I feel about it, it kinda reminds me of Lanas or Marinas audiobook version of their poem books! Even the delivery of the song is more like reciting her diary rather than wanting to create a song. But overall I wish pretty much every song had a minute more to them, it is very early punk when the songs were short, they even kinda remind me of early Florence (Kiss with a fist, Bird song), but yea, it's good but not an instant hit or classic. I almost prefer the Wuthering heights soundtrack, but there the songs were more complete.
Karl 3,574
Such an interesting album. To me this feels like one of the most PC Music sounding records she has made lyrically, like a stream of consciousness, rhyming doesn't matter, repetitive etc. The sound is pure 00s sleaze, I love how each song explores a subject quickly but if you look at the lyrics there is quite a lot of depth (aside from yeah). This will turn off a lot of fans of Brat, and traditional pop music fans probably wont like it, general music fans will have more luck with it I think, and the GP will absolutely not enjoy it. The last couple minutes of the final song gave me chills and the whole thing is food for thought. It's just so nice to hear a mainstream artist who is clearly inspired make something they want to make without worrying as much about how it will be perceived or what is currently popping off sound wise. 9/10 for me
Murakami27 8,426
Straight up awful and even worse than I expected. A bunch of half baked songs that’s nothing more than demos. I won’t be convinced that any of this is good or that it would even be praised if any other artist had released this. 2
Bronco 24,683
I gave this a listen because despite the fact I hate Charli she is an interesting artist. And like, honestly it's not a bad album. There's some tracks I won't ever touch again because they are too on the nose for the things I dislike about Charli's entire persona but they are generally okay. My biggest critique is that a lot of songs left me wanting more. But not in the "oh these are so good I need longer" way, more in a "this is building to a payoff that never actually comes in" way. I like the instrumentals for a lot of this album. There's 3 tracks I actually like like rather than just recognise the good artistry in them. 2007, I'm Afraid & Yeah. I also kind of like SS26 and Camera but don't see myself revisiting them. I think 7/10 is a fair score. The gays know how to party
Magic Mike 2,763
My God that’s DAVID ****ING CRONENBERG at the end of the album 😍 Love him so much. Way better than Nolan, Scorsese or Lanthimos put together. Cronenberg being the final voice makes so much sense. His whole career has been about bodies, celebrity, transformation and decay. It doesn’t feel like a random cameo at all. I have so many mixed feelings about this anti-album, but I suspect it’ll be a real grower. I mean… why even try to outdo the kind of pop Slayyyter or Kim Petras are making in 2026? Better to make something stranger. Better to make different art. 💖 Edited 16 hours ago by Magic Mike
BeFree 212
Very cool album. I like the introspective lyrics and grungy guitars. It’s deliberately a departure from her previous work but still incorporates electronic music and think it will be well-received. Best tracks for me are Camera, Persona, Card declined, Magic Metal Montana. Edited 16 hours ago by BeFree
