I appreciate your response and honestly everything in my fibre wants to agree with you because it's often the only reasonable response, I also don't live in the US so its probably easier for me to say all this. I just feel like the nail in the coffin is turning your back on these people. Society cannot function if everyone hates their neighbour yet that's what I see both sides doing.

The thing is, they did this themselves. Regardless of how I feel, it won’t change the consequences.

All they have is God and Trump. Not even kidding.

No they are victims of an increasingly aggressive misinformation campaign by foreign and domestic powers designed to turn them against you and you against them and everyone on this thread who laughs and sits back smug is arguably falling for the same campaign and are too dumb to see it. That's why we're ****ed, you all are losing your god damn humanity and think you're too smart to fall for the same tricks when you are, you're playing right into their hands

Not really. They have access to the same resources we do and it's even more in their interest to be informed of the consequences of elections than it is ours so why are WE more informed on how Trump's policies will hurt their livelihoods?

They made their choice and I guarantee they would make the same choice again.

Unfortunately this isn't just about trump, do you really think kamala would save the economy? trump's only accelerating what's already happening, it could be argued that the left are just as misinformed if they really believed anything she or that side really championed.

The left are in power in the UK and they are hopeless trying to solve the economy. This is bigger than us vs them

Expert economists backed Harris’s economic plans: https://www.axios.com/2024/10/23/harris-trump-nobel-prize-economists

Nothing has changed in the US except Trump’s economic policies such as tariffs and mass deportation of migrant workers.

Harris wouldn’t have to “save” an economy that was doing fine.

Cost of living is different and that would have been the challenge for anyone. Something Trump is worsening by the same economic policies he is championing.

It’s kinda sad how many L trump supporters are taking in these past few months. When trump announced he will be bringing in foreign kids for college, my coworker had a meltdown saying how her son would be more suitable to handle engineering (side note: he works at Walmart) :huntyga:

Well, yes :vegas:

Biden era policies had us travelling in the right direction, a continuation/improvement upon them would have been fine tbh. At least, a hell of a lot better than Trump.

Idk, I'm not in the business of swimming down when I'm drowning :icant:

Oh god please don't drink the kool aid. People can pay economists to back whatever they say, look how many people are backing trump right now. Besides that economists can be wrong too. Anyone that isn't seriously talking about taxing the wealthy elite and preventing tax dodging meaningfully isn't worth yours or anyone's times. It's not a political issue, it's a class issue. The whole world's resources/assets are being slurped up regardless of country. Its bigger than America. I don't know how in good faith you can say your economy is doing fine with a tax bill that insane

But the economists weren’t wrong in this instance. Trump’s policies are doing exactly what they said they’d do.

The US economy (by the measures we use to determine that) were fine. The US economy bounced back better than most of the world under COVID.

Inflation was significantly reduced, unemployment was low, and growth was steady. These are the facts.

This doesn’t change that the cost of living worldwide is grossly increasing. The issue is for the common voter “the economy” = “what my expenses look like” and not economic indicators.

This economic system isn’t made to benefit everyone, certainly not the poor.

But to say Harris wouldn’t be different than Trump is incorrect. The false equivalencies is part of the reason why we have Trump.

Not even 1% of the shit happening now was happening under Biden and it wouldn’t be happening under Harris either.

I find it lazy when people aren’t able to make nuanced differences between Republicans and Democrats. I know you aren’t American, so whatever, but I assure you those of us actually living here feel the difference.

Tell her she needs to re-engineer her brain to think more logically.

It doesn't take a genius to know what tariffs were going to do that doesn't mean anything.

I don't think there isn't a difference between Republicans and Democrats of course there is, my problem is the issue that is causing the cost of living crisis which will only get worse regardless of who is in power would still be there and that to me completely overshadows whatever growth numbers used to suggest your economy is fine.

Most of the world has its pensions wrapped up in an ever inflating economy that increasingly looks like it can't pay its debt with an ungodly share of that in companies riding the AI bubble.

I'm unaware Harris had plans to prevent that? I agree trump is making things worse faster but I believe both sides aren't recognising the hole that's sinking the boat or more likely they're being paid to ignore it.

I feel like every 4 years from now someone will keep selling the lie they can fix this and I'm not going to keep believing it especially from the main parties, that's why politics is more extreme because the problem is so fundamental to the way we've built society under capitalism that no matter who is in power the problems gets worse. Even if your country swings back to the Democrats I know the issues we have now will still be there but worse, I just hope you have the sense to not parrot trumps rhetoric that all the misery was caused by the other sides administration
