Especially when you learn how gems like diamonds artificially had their value increased by marketing and false scarcity. It is quite insane to throw money like that around on a piece of jewelry.

My friend thought $1k for a ring was a LOT and I was like mama I want at least $10k  a million dollar ring.. I'd be scared to wear it in public without security or even have anyone know the real worth lmao

Omg I would smack a man if he spent even hundreds on a ring for me. I'd rather get an inexpensive but cute ring and then use that $1k or more for a vacation or something to make memories
