However there is technically a second round, to be counted on July 1st, since none of them reached 50%. Let's see what happens, but signs point to a Mamdani win for the Primary. do people vote again, or they just count differently based on how they were ranked? (sorry I don't know how ranked choice works )

Bronco 25,895
So was it ranked choice voting? If so the delay in counting the 2nd round seems weird to me. The gays know how to party
Concertaholic 6,592
I’m sorry but I don’t see his socialist policies working in NYC. People complain about NYC being expensive but that’s simply supply and demand. If a lot of people want to live in a densely populated area then it’s going to be somewhat expensive. And where are they gonna get all the money to pay for all of these things? People in New York are already taxed like crazy. Good luck to this man, but I expect to see pigs flying before his policies actually work in NYC without bankrupting the city or causing a max exodus of overtaxed, frustrated residents. You know very little of the FDR era and the decades following if you think America cannot handle high taxation of the rich. People in NYC are leaving the city in droves actually - but because they’re being priced out, not over taxed. They cried this same song about leaving the city when de Blasio won and yet the billionaires stayed and oh btw - even more millionaires popped up during his mayoral tenure. Good luck to this man, but I expect to see pigs flying before his policies actually work in NYC without bankrupting the city or causing a max exodus of overtaxed, frustrated residents. One of his main taxation policies I've seen - although ill fully admit to not following this race closely - was to being NYC's corporate tax rate up to 11.5%. That's not going to bankrupt the city or cause a mass exodus. Global businesses will remain because its nigh impossible to move a global financial center. Local businesses cannot move. And its well below the average corporate tax rate globally of 23.51% (25.67% if weighted by GDP). The cost of being in NYC as a large corporate will go up but will still be significantly cheaper than moving offshore. And there's little in the way of viable replacement options in the USA without significant infrastructure investment in red state cities which is highly unlikely. His other main tax pledge - the 2% income tax rate on earnings over a million USD is a drop in the ocean for those people.
