Well, we’re not gonna wait around and play semantic games with the Republicans.

They could start another Iraq and just never call it a war and trillions would vanish over repeated “special military operations.”

This standard of “war only starts once it’s admitted” but “we can bomb whatever” is wild.

The Iranian Government is worried about self preservation/regime survival first and foremost. What's less clear is the goals of the US... Do we just care about nuclear enrichment? If so:

Best case scenario is that Iran conceeds on retaining any enrichment capabilities (something they previously conceeded through diplomacy until Trump tore it up in his last term).

Worst case they target oil facilities in the region and start blockading the Straits of Hormuz, increasing prices of oil significantly.

BUT Israel has been screaming about regime change in Iran... If the US turns course and starts demanding that as the terms of surrender?? We could be looking at a repeat of the wars of Iraq and Afghanistan on steroids. Iran is twice the size of Afghanistan and three times the size of Iraq. We will have new ISIS-esq extremist groups popping up decades from now if that is the road the US takes.

The US hasn't formally declared war since 1941.

Things like the Iraq War, were not formally wars, they were Authorizations for Use of Military Force, but were approved by Congress.

I don't think Trump can be impeached for this, but there's still legal debate over a US president using military force this way and that's why it's being discussed.

A lot of Americans have goldfish brains. The Iraq War was only 20 years ago and we now know how much BS was involved in starting that and maintaining it. 

We are back at square one and tons of people are going to just go along with more BS until the US is in another conflict.
