Video claiming to show Satanic rituals on display at the pope's funeral, turned out to be unrelated footage from Spain

A video showing a Holy Week procession at the Santa Maria de Gracia church in Cartagena, in the Murcia region of Spain, was shared on social media with false captions saying that it showed satanic rituals at Pope Francis’ funeral.

A video showing a procession at a church was shared online, ahead of his funeral with captions such as “The Pope LOOKS LIKE he is literally having a SATANIC Ritual as a funeral” and “Can we talk about how absolutely Satanic this Pope funeral is? From the hats to the upside down crosses ... so many conspiracy theories to unwrap in one video.”

The video was filmed in the church of Santa Maria de Gracia,  the attire seen in the video matches the clothes worn by an all-female section of worshippers called the Tercio del Arrepentimiento de San Pedro, part of a wider group of Cartagena penitents dedicated to St. Peter.

The group seen in the video usually take part in a procession on Holy Wednesday, during the week leading up to Easter. Their costumes consist of a white wool tunic and a black satin cape embroidered in gold with an inverted cross emblem in red that has a rooster in the centre.
