PartySick 172,975
February 19th is a significant date for the Japanese American community. On this day in 1942, President Franklin D. Roosevelt signed Executive Order 9066, which gave the U.S. Army the authority to remove civilians from the military zones established in Washington, Oregon, and California during WWII. This led to the forced removal and incarceration of some 120,000 Americans of Japanese ancestry living on the West Coast, who had to abandon their jobs, their homes, and their lives to be sent to one of ten concentration camps scattered in desolate, remote regions of the country. No Japanese Americans were ever charged, much less convicted, of espionage or sabotage against the United States. Yet they were targeted, rounded up, and imprisoned for years, simply for having the “face of the enemy.” Every February, the Japanese American community commemorates Executive Order 9066 as a reminder of the impact the incarceration experience has had on our families, our community, and our country. It is an opportunity to educate others on the fragility of civil liberties in times of crisis, and the importance of remaining vigilant in protecting the rights and freedoms of all. PartySick 172,975
Felt this was important to share as it's very, very possible that just 80 short years later we could see the same atrocities committed on US soil yet again. The site has links to some demonstrations and events specifically related to this day. Also make sure to check out the resources in this Imgur post (copy+paste the URL) and attend wherever you can, however you can, and whenever you can to help stand in Trump's way. https://imgur.com/gallery/go-from-informed-to-active-only-takes-3-5-of-population-to-affect-change-6siUDGZ Whimsical bitch

But with the state of things now, it's easy to see where they started and where they'll end up. Whimsical bitch

It's a strange time, I'm hoping more people will continue to speak up, I've seen quite a few anti Trump protesters in my town. I'm in CA, but in a more right leaning town so it's been nice to see. Really wish I could have made it to the one in Orlando but it seems like turnout is consistently pretty good https://twitter.com/justin_schecker/status/1891545590460244177 Whimsical bitch
