Jesus, that film looks awful. There isn't one funny moment, Rihanna's voice doesn't suit Smurfette at all and that final line which is supposed to be so funny falls completely flat. I thought kids movies had moved on a lot in years, they've been made with kids intelligence more in mind, giving something for the adults forced to watch it, a bit more effort involved. To reboot Smurfs just to make it this basic and think it would work out is a big mistake. There's some pretty big names that are voicing characters when I looked it up, yet they're riding completely on Rihanna's name to sell this. But she isn't relevant to kids anymore. We've already heard 2 of her own songs and a cover of Heaven Is A Place On Earth, so I don't know where we're going to hear new tracks but there apparently are. Again, she's providing songs for another kids movie, even though this didn't work out for her last time with Home. It would make total sense if this was 2016 but in 2025?

It seems like every few years, Rihanna throws her fans a bone with one stand-alone song (a duet on NERD's song, Lemon in 2017, a duet on PartyNextDoor's song, Believe It in 2020 and Lift Me Up in 2022 and now this). All those songs surprisingly charted and sold decently in the US and UK but they got forgotten about as soon as it peaked and no one talks about them now. It's like she's maybe testing the waters as to whether she can have a successful music comeback or not but every time, it's not a huge song, so she gets cold feet. It's just unbelievable that she thinks playing a part in all these songs is a better use of her time than making a full-blown album.
