Rebecca was on Last Meals recently and mentioned Gaga and how she (and her fans) were some of the ones being kind to her back when a lot of people weren't :kara:

I love her! I'm still streaming Crumbs. Ready for her upcoming "Salvation"!

I'm not getting any sleep tonight because I woke up to a beautiful life. I'm awake.

I love that YouTube series. You got celebs talking about dark morbid topics they're not usually asked but also they're relaxed because they're eating their favourite food

Do you feel him sir?

To be fair, it's phrased like Gaga genuinely meant that compliment. In reality, the interviewer asked her if she'd heard of Rebecca Black and she said no. They then said that she'd gained notoriety from an apparently really bad song and video called Friday that went viral and asked what she thought about it. And that's when Gaga (who was responding in an unassured way as she'd only just found out who this girl was) said that statement. That was Gaga just trying to be nice and stand true to her message of "if you want to be a superstar and you believe it, you can make it happen, and if you get people talking about you, even if it's bad, then you're clearly doing something right." I mean, she probably assumed Rebecca had written the song and directed the video as a struggling independent artist, not realising she was one of a whole long line of wannabe child singers signed to this shady label that was wanting to make the next Justin Bieber-esque teenybopper pop idol and the whole song and concept was made for her. If she'd known that, her answer likely would've been different.

But regardless, if Rebecca found solace from that as well as from her fans (even if it was just liking her music ironically, let's be real), then that's sweet. I'm glad she got out of that crazy business without going off the rails and is living her best life now doing music she wants to make.

King of the Fall

I like Rebecca, she handled all the hate around friday in an admirable way and has released some really good stuff since then but some people will only ever think of her as the girl that made friday. I was just watching her boiler room set and thought she killed it

Tbh I don’t thunk Gaga’s answer would have been any different. She didn’t really jive with people being mean

But more than that it’s still a good thing to do bc on the platform she has back then let’s not forget how she could have jokingly dogpiled but she didn’t. She gave a nice answer and told people to shut up.

i don’t think her answer would have changed bc gaga really was cognizant of her platform and wouldn’t speak down on someone who’s just a kid
