Why does it matter if it goes to #1 on a nonsensical chart?

I wouldn't call the chart "nonsensical" as much as "somewhat flawed". The point system they use has been adjusted in the past (2019 I believe) to reflect how people's way of consuming songs has shifted thanks to streaming, but I believe it needs to be adjusted again (Spotify alone has grown over 4x its global user base since the adjustment).

I understand that for someone like you chart placement might not matter, but for little chartsters like myself it's just a nice accolade to have, whenever they introduce Gaga on a show or they mention it as part of a magazine article saying "X no. 1s in the hot 100", so that's where we're coming from

I don’t understand why people ASK for cheap tactics to get the number 1… if a song is meant to top the charts it should do so organically, not inflated by discounted sales, variants, etc… I’m obviously hoping it does go no. 1 but idk these marketing ploys have always sat wrong with me.

You know that approximately no song ever reaches #1 without tactics, right? Maybe there’s a few (Driver’s License maybe? I’m not sure) but 99.9% of the #1 hits were pushed by a label. There’s even songs that make it big out of nowhere without any big push but they don’t also go #1 out of nowhere, it is a privilege that’s earned with a lot of money

If they didn’t use these cheap tactics and pushes then songs would just go number one organically… To me this is the same as when songs go number one because fanbases are mass streaming. They’re not real hits imo. No actual popular impact.
