I love how suspended in time Azealia Banks’ music takes are. Always making everything about 2000-2010s indie, like this does NOT sound like Feist lmao

I understand that taste and music preferences are subjective, but this made me giggle bc all the negative criticism I've been seeing about the singles are "they're basic beginner country" then I hop on here and see they "aren't exactly country".

Tbf I've come around.

I mean it's just that 16 Carriages lyrics & singing are a good example of Blues, bit of Gospel and older country thrown in. But the instrumental's repetative beats in the chorus ruin it for me, they just don't fit and are a bit unpleasant sonically for me personally.

Texas Hold Em I'm onboard with.

I just find that when Beyoncé has done country previously on Lemonade it felt way more developed. And as a hardcore country fan, I want her to go heavier on the country. So I fully stand by wanting an album full of Daddy Lessons level tracks, I don't think either tracks she's dropped so far hit that same itch that Daddy Lessons does for me lol

Azealia should worry about her own career since it’s in the toilet.

Yeah, it is profoundly easy to just be a professional shitposter with virtually no skin in the game. She’s also pretty wrong here. Idk if she remembers, but Bey got a shitton of backlash when she performed with The Chicks at the CMAs, so I’m not exactly sure how a country record, as a black woman in the whitest subsection of the pop music industry, is “pick me behavior.”

If yall are so pressed about her why do you jump into every thread about her.

personally, disagree or agree, I like hearing her takes. She cares enough about culture to actually have an original opinion that for the most part is pretty thought out. She clearly has a lot of respect for Beyoncé and like many fans of any artist, will say when they don’t like a certain direction they’re going in.

ill take someone who i disagree with but is at least original over a drink the kool aid youtube reactor phishing for easy engagement

I like the new songs and I am excited for the album. I think the songs already are much better than most of Renaissance but I love me the honkytonk.  :traumatica:

Country derives from blues correct? Why do people feel like you have to have the same old “country voice” to make country music. That genre didn’t start with the typical voices that most people think. She won’t shape shift her voice to fit in with the hoard of country songs. She has soul, she will always have a gospel\R&B tone. The best example of a soulful country voice is Miley. Her voice definitely has soul to it but she sings country so well. Azealia is again jealous that she isn’t doing well in music so she pretends to be the all knowing of what people should be doing with their careers meanwhile she fails to to go styrofoam plate, let alone platinum. Lmao like stop
