At first I quickly skipped through the album to find some duplicates of starships or superbass.. there was nothing. Even as a rap album there is nothing memorable on the album like anaconda or chun li. What went wrong?

I think she's struggling because I don't think she likes her old hits like starships that much, she very much hopped on the EDM trend at the time. So I think this album she's conflicted because she wants mainstream hits but wants it to still be very much hip hop and so we have the sample tracks that are a bit of both but ultimately feel pretty souless. I do like some of the songs though, I like FTCU :ohwell:

I think she should have released it as a mixtape rather than as a standalone album.

I could not continue listening after a few tracks... why name it Pink Friday 2 when there are no pop bangers on it like on the original?

I mean, haven’t all of her recent albums? Definitely not throwing shade because I’ve been a barb since the og Pink Friday, but after Pink Print I really couldn’t even name a song

I didn’t realize this was supposed to be a full album release, for some reason my brain told me it was supposed to be like a short cute EP that was marking some kind of anniversary for Pink Friday?

 Am I crazy?

I listened to it and don’t vibe with it but if you do, awesome 😎

Idk what people have been listening to :triggered: PF2 is MILES better than Queen. It’s definitely more Pinkprint coded than Pink Friday coded, but I’ve been bopping to a lot of the tracks:

Barbie Dangerous

Fallin 4 U

Let Me Calm Down

Pink Birthday

Needle

Cowgirl

Everybody

Big Difference

Nicki Hendrix

I liked it...I can understand why people expected her to have more pop songs on it, considering she named it after her debut which was more pop. I don't think it's bad just because it doesn't sound like Super Bass, Say So, or God forbid, Check It Out. It definitely feels more Pinkprint or Queen than PF2, but I personally prefer those albums to PF anyway. There's definitely songs on PF2 that are vibes...It's just a matter of opinion I guess.

So, to answer the original question, I think what went wrong is she delivered something people weren't expecting and people are disappointed. I.e., the marketing was off.

On an unrelated note, this is why I'm glad Gaga didn't do something for ARTPOP's 10-year because people would have been so upset over whatever she delivered. It's been built up too much in people's heads.

King of the Fall

The nerve of her calling something so creatively stagnant Pink Friday 2, this album is a successor in name only. Nicki is one of those artists with a lot of talent who consistently underutilize themselves

Hey, I'm king of the world, you ought to hear my song, you come on measure me, I'm twenty inches long

I like it :sis: Red Ruby Da Sleaze, SFG, Big Difference, Needle, Everybody, pink Friday Girls all bops. Some filler. It feels like a combo of all her albums so far. I feel like SFG and Pink Friday Girls are the super bass pop moments.

I feel like Pinkprint did a really good job at this, however she likely doesn't want to do that album all over again so she might have been confused on how to go about the direction.
