Cardi B has sparked a meltdown at her record label after telling fans she’s scrapped her long awaited second album.

The rapper went on an astonishingly strange tweet and delete session on X where she let rip at her followers, before appearing to turn her back on the music industry for good.

One now deleted message read: “There’s no album.” In another, Cardi saud: “I don’t want to do music.”

Will we ever stop falling for this goofy ahh trick? :smh: Probably not. The "fake retirement announcement" is the oldest marketing trick in the book

Tbh Bongos was not it. The label probably told her look, this last single didn't make any money and no one's talking about it so. You gotta go back to the drawing board.

It's so funny to me that I feel the biggest downfall for Bongos was the annoying "bong" sound that kept repeating while they tried to rap. There were parts where you could barely hear the lyrics over it. So to me the song was just a mixing fail and could have been an easy fix. I'm shocked that the song was probably passed through so many people and there wasn't enough complaint that it got changed.

She’s released so many singles and features since her first album that you could literally make an album out of them

Did GarGar log into her account by accident and say that? :gayhat:

I feel like there's always a balance, even with singles artists. Streaming/virality are definitely a strong point to an artist's career, but an album achieves several things as well. It engages hardcore fans for a while and makes sure interest isn't lost. And you kind of need a solid fanbase to put the music in front of others consistently. Which is why Cardi has had such a hard time getting her singles to succeed, because she continues to throw out one-offs and at this point her fanbase is starting to disengage. It also gives an opportunity to grow your fanbase more consistently and gives people variation in one place without them needing to constantly wait or re-discover her from other artists' work. Her constant pushback against putting out an album is really putting her down and making her sound disengenious. How are you gonna rap about success when you have 1 album out that nobody really talks about anymore, 6 singles 1 of which hit the top 10, and 15+ features 2-3 of which actually did well?
