I get the science behind it but "most ideally proportioned" is not a synonym to "handsome" - the former being somewhat scientifically based and the latter involving way more subjective factors.

They purely base it off of proportional measurements. Complexion, hair, coloring, and much more isn't taken into consideration. It also seems like it's purely based on their portrait view, not their profile view.

So it's a shallow take on a shallow subject

It's crazy how you can never find a really accurate way to define beauty. Sure you can say it's subjective, but let's be real, there are a lot of people who will be deemed attractive by the majority, and yet they don't look like each other, and you can't find what it is about them exactly that makes them attractive.

Exactly, what's even more weird is that we can subconsciously identify people are handsome/beautiful, but it doesn't mean we're most attracted to them. You'd think we'd be attracted to the most beautiful people but we aren't.

It's like beauty is a science but attraction is an art, one is objective and the other subjective.
