Coop 15,397
About 60,000 migrants have crossed into Spain's North African territory of Ceuta from Morocco in the last 24 hours, Ceuta's president said, adding that at least 43 others died during the crossing. Ceuta, on Morocco's northern coast, is separated from mainland Spain by the Strait of Gibraltar and has long been a focal point for migrants attempting to reach Europe. Local officials had appealed to Madrid for help after a recent rise in attempted crossings, but there were chaotic scenes on Thursday as border controls apparently broke down. Ceuta's President Juan Jesús Vivas said the situation was "unsustainable" and that the recent arrivals amounted to around 70% of the city's population - which sits at around 83,600 according to the latest local figures. DesertWolf 55,271
For more context, just last week Spanish prime minister was in Algeria trying to improve the diplomatic relations between both countries, after Algeria cut ties in 2022 cause Spain claimed that Moroccan authority over Western Sahara was the best option for the region... (most likely they tried to please Morocco to join us in hosting the World Cup in 2030, which was a huge mistake...) Morocco often plays this card in order to threat Spain to not get any closer to Algeria and it's a tiring situtation for Ceuta. Maybe it's platonic love, but it's only gothic black XXXIII

SavetheEarthNow 76
They need to do it the legal way, not this way. They can't expect to illegally enter a country and then do nothing whilst in that country, expecting hard working Spaniards to support them. They need to educate themselves about the culture of countries and adapt to it as well. I believe Norway has an assimilation training program for immigrants that works quite well to help them assimilate into Norwegian culture. 5 1
Morphine Prince 109,683
This is clearly a coordinated attack by Morocco, Israel, and the USA due to Spain’s stance on issues relating to those countries. Most obvious psyop in history. Edited Friday at 05:50 PM by Morphine Prince 5 3
PornoDanceFight 2,054
This will only continue to get worse as Western nations continue to destabilize the global south and western Asia and put economic interests over political stability and mitigating climate change. If Western nations were wise, we would pull out of forever wars, promote economic cooperation, and engage in and promote infrastructure revitalization before the climate crisis and political polarization/instability becomes worse. But we aren't, so we won't. 6

They want to destabilize countries to "punish" them, and then their genocidal cult followers will deal with them. he/him/his

The way illegal migrants and refugees are generally incredibly hard working and often pay into tax systems that they can’t collect the benefits from. Give me a break, sister. Most of them were used by the moroccan government as a response to how Spain has approached good terms with Argelia, and they most probably did it with the USA and Israel approval. Many people from Morocco come here, go through legal processes, get themselves to work and try to have a normal life. They're actually good people (well; most of them, but that can also be applied to any country). Those who assaulted Ceuta are not under these conditions and circumstances – it's not the same.

Not only because we need to protect our barriers and security - but also because these people need to be treated as HUMANS by their own country. For god's sake, Mohamed VI is seeing his citizens as cows to sacrify. It's horrifying.
elegidadedios 4,902
I'd also like to add how 50 thousand people coming at once to another country can only be readed as a coordinated movement by others above them — they, as individuals, do not have the resources nor the skills to act like that. I hope we all agree on that. Please, do not get this as "people wanting to do it the illegal way". They were used. We're in such a dystopic situation, not even the scariest plot could have predicted it. I hate to say it but scary times are upon us.

Most obvious psyop in history. That is Islamophobia! Why would hundreds of thousands of military-age Muslim men be a ‘punishment’ or a danger to a country? They are just refugees seeking a better life! Furthermore, Spain needs to start doing what they preach to Israel, and give up Ceuta and Melilla, which belong to Morocco. There’s no justification for a European country to have settler colonies in Africa in 2026. Edited Friday at 06:44 PM by Stylor

There’s no justification for a European country to have settler colonies in Africa in 2026. — Exhales and inhales in order to get relaxed — Ceuta and Melilla have been part of Spain since the 15th-17th centuries; even more so Melilla since 1497 and Ceuta since 1660 (more or less, can't remember the exact date), when Portugal finally admitted it. Before that, it belonged to Portugal — ended up being a spanish territory also when the "Portugal" and "Spain" union under the same reign occured, but as Portugal gained its independence as a country, they gave Ceuta to Spain alone. And long before that, Ceuta was occupied by caliphates (not to be mistaken as "Morocco" cause they were formed way after) and the Roman Empire. Ceuta and Melilla have always been Spain, not colonies in Africa in the big 2026. Actually, all the colonies Spain had gained their right independence too many decades ago. So our position about Israel is clear and right, as they never had a proper country. Palestinians did.
