Controversiaga 10,238
Unpopular opinion: but Born This Way era deserved so much better. The GP only saw the albums most tame and, in comparison to the rest of the album, underwhelming and safer tracks. Born This Way (song), You & I, and The Edge of Glory (the albums 3 most successful singles) were smart choices for singles because they are very radio friendly and showcased a less risqué side of Gaga. Judas was dangerous because people were offended for religious purposes. Could’ve been potentially more successful if it wasn’t released on Easter. While all those songs made decent singles- there is proof that we could’ve gotten more and dived deeper into the core of the album and the albums sound, by giving the GP songs like BLOODY MARY and HEAVY METAL LOVER as singles back in 2011/12. Bloody Mary is doing very well now, and I think it could’ve done just as well, if not better, 10 years ago when the album was new. With a good radio edit, Scheisse could’ve been a hit too. People want to argue it wouldn’t have worked because it means “sh!t” but if WAP could be a single and get a radio edit, so could Scheisse! I just wish the GP got to hear the deeper/darker side of BTW album. They really only heard the 3 most happy and upbeat songs. But the album is SO MUCH more than that. okay end rant. Controversiaga 10,238
Oh wait. So music video wise we needed more visuals. Even for non singles or promo singles, like Eh Eh and BDR. I know Gaga was busy. But if they could make visuals for FAME perfume, we could’ve gotten more MVs for the album too. im sorry I know I’m being greedy and I know she broke her hip on this tour and that did put a dent in the era and obviously impaired her from being able to film MVs. tyler k 5,329
I just wish Hair could've had a music video, like the person above mentioned, Gaga did videos for non-singles/promo singles BDR & Eh, Eh soooo like why couldn't have Hair gotten a video?? ngl since Bloody Mary is still rising, I don't think it's that too unrealistic to think we MIGHT MIGHT get some kind of visual for that song? perhaps? get your clown noses out?? mmmy name ~isn't~ aliceee
Benji 20,113
Scheiße deserved a sickening radio edit and to be released as a single.
Zombiecat 15,564
If any of the less tame songs were released, the GP would never have heard them because no one would play them. I honestly don't think that arranging the singles etc any differently would have made much of a difference, she promoted the album and singles like crazy, a whole year of promo'ing the singles before going on tour https://linktr.ee/jamalholt
DISZKO 786
My favorite track was scheisse since its debut on mugler runway I personally really enjoy gagas speaking tone and lower register and when she plays with it, (rain on me bridge, the fame demo etc..) to me it feels like she allows her different aspects to be present on tracks, especially when she does it in harmonies it is gorgeous and I think it is what really made her tracks different compared to other artists. BTW had a lot of really good ideas and the whole religious alien cyber deity vibe was amazing. Personally I was waiting for Scheisse to come, I enjoyed the singles but always felt a bit let down cause I thought they were safe choices. I would have loved to see Scheisse, Hevy Metal Lover, Bloody Mary. But tbh any other track I would have appreciated, all of them I think could have worked. I could totally see a line up of tracks that could have shown BTW in different light, like a selection of songs such as Highway Unicorn, Fashion of His love, Marry The Night would have had a more old school impact. Which I would be fine with too haha. I think in general her management team also focused so much on remix albums and I think that is something that I miss from recent eras. Every single and album has been remixed up until ARTPOP. I think it was a smart choice to do that because it gave her presence in the club scene. BTW era in general is amazing and I feel very lucky to have been a little monster since The Fame and to witness her journey. To see her transform and shift in appearence with a coherence gave me so much joy. Also it was such a funny twist, because everyone thought BTW will be bright and soft like the vanity fair coveer and her look from VMAs in that Alexander Mcqueen dress with the feathers and then she did something totally else with that weird giger alien dark vibe. GENIUS
Guest
I honestly wouldn't do anything different other then to have had the era end with the BTWB being professionally filmed and released, IMO its her greatest tour of all time and she will never top it. I then would also have the btwb/ARTPOP documentery be released but that's also kinda during the ARTPOP era so idk if that counts.
Chromatikitten 883
As per Gaga's original choice of singles: Marry The Night as the lead, then Born This Way, then The Edge of Glory —a 1-2-3 punch of thumping anthemic stadium dance empowerment bangers that perfectly capture the soul and sound of the album, and which could've been an easy streak of 3 consecutive number 1 smash hits (which would've eventually made her include TEOG and MTN in her halftime show set list ) followed by Judas, Hair (with an iconic mv), and finally Scheiße (with the FAME fragrance film by Steven Klein as its mv) 6 single choices that could've made Born This Way her Thriller + a certified pop bible that would've been the metallic bedazzled electronic stadium rock leather biker rival to Teenage Dream A dream She's meditating guys — She's died
RodeckDanny 2,436
I think it was a great era, I'd only change 1 thing: TEOG having a better and more creative music video. Listen to my debut pop single 'Want You Bad'! (link on Insta)
Noir 16,453
call me crazy and excessive idc but if she were ever to go batshit with a bunch of singles, BTW was the era and end of her imperial phase anyway so may as well go out with a bang (this timeline does not include her hip injury effecting this either)... 1. BORN THIS WAY (2011 January) 2. MARRY THE NIGHT (2011 March, released on Gaga's birthday) Promo Single: Judas (2011 April) 3. THE EDGE OF GLORY (2011 May) -------------album release (2011 May)-------------- 4. HAIR (2011 August) 5. YOU AND I (2011 November) 6. SCHEISSE ft. Kendrick Lamar (2012 February) 7. JUDAS (2012 May) 8. HEAVY METAL LOVER (2012 July) 9. BLOODY MARY (2012 October, Halloween Release) This would allow the radio-friendly hits to excel in the beginning of the era: BTW, TEOG, HAIR and YOU AND I. Whilst the more singles (and quite frankly more odd, less radio-friendly) songs released would gain less commercial success as people would've already bought the album and still could have potential to be minor hits. Regardless, she'd serve great visuals for the songs and I'm sure they'd gain widespread attention over time just like Bloody Mary now has. Bloody Mary could've become her Halloween classic and a low-key hit for its Halloween notoriety akin to Mariah's All I Want For Xmas for Christmas. Judas would probably achieve some decent chart peaks and top 10s as a promo single given the hype at the time, so she'd still get it as a top 10 or whatever, but releasing it as an official single later down the line with that video would gain the album/era/song more attention and chart longevity. I also think a radio-friendly version of Scheisse with Kendrick Lamar featuring would be cool, especially given his GP popularity and their friendship during 2011-2013. I initially thought Nicki Minaj but it's clear I don't think Gaga's a fan lol. I doubt HML and BM would even touch the top 50 in the US at that point but who cares?? I think this way she could've easily secured 5-7 top ten singles in the US and tbh these songs deserve it.

LaLuna 12,732
My dream BTW era would be an era where I get to attend the full BTWB instead of having to leave halfway through the show to catch the last bus home
Reject False Icons 4,744
I really feel like BTW era was the biggest era overall, it was the ending of the first Gaga we knew and the beginning of so many things that developed till these days (jazz, foundation, business ventures) and promo wise, it was unbelievable, it was the most consistent era having 5 complete single releases, no other era had as much budget and promotion as this one, 2011 was from beginning to end BTW promotion, I can’t even recall the number of appearances and themathic performances for each single, even with the mess of TEOG she still delivered EVERYTHING, I truly can’t believe we won’t ever see that level of compromise and work on her even any other modern pop star, but for good or bad pop is not that elaborate anymore. I know it had its flaws and at the time it was a small decline from TF, and TFM but come on a full year purely for a record promotion, nobody has done that ever since
TEANUS 14,767
Her getting a little more of a break following the conclusion of TMB first off, possibly pushing the album to the fall or at least pushing so much of the post-album promotion to the fall. That album was gonna hold on itself for a while no matter what. Maybe drop BTW (the single) at the end of the tour? Then…. BTW (single) - May 2011 The Edge of Glory - August 2011 Album - September 2011 Marry The Night - November 2011 Yoü and I (US) / Scheiße (WW) - February 2012 Hair - May 2012 May 2012 - April 2023 - Born This Way Ball (at least 3 weeks between each continent/ leg, no back to back shows sans multiple shows at the same venue) British social ladies with upturned pinkies, glasses clinking // xoxoTEANUS
