We (women) experience many things that most of men don’t on a daily basis. We are catcalled the most when we are in our teenage years. Catcalling stops when we are in our twenties. We read incels/black-pillers/other misogynists say on the internet that women have “expiration date” (which often is age of 25) and are not worth being with after their “peak”. We read/hear men fantasizing about having a much younger woman. We go on p0rn sites and see “barely legal”, “stepsister”, “teen” categories trending. We live in a society with pedophilic beauty standards for women. Also I find it weird. Just me but being 40 and dating someone 18, it's weird as hell. And I know people always come at me when I say "what do they talk about", but what I mean is, the immaturity gap is HUGE! Even me being in mid 20s when I used to talk to this man who was 40 I could feel the difference in maturity. Just nothing you can change about that, with more experience you are more mature and I don't mean having a childish nature/essence nothing to do with it, you can still be mature and have that as your characteristics. But 18 is a freaking kid and always will be so yeah if you get triggered just means you do it and you wanna do it until you're 40. At 18, girls are fresh out of high school. The legal age for adulthood is just that -  a legal construct. Socially, we should recognize that an 18 ****ing year old isn't "completely aware of what she was getting herself into". In what world does your maturity peak at 18?

Even Andrew ****ing Tate targeted his girlfriends aged 18-24 deliberately; that age gap is a target of so many sexist men for a goddamn reason. It's a significant social phenomenon based on unhealthy views about women and girls that men in power grossly abuse time and again everywhere in the world. I'm sick of people not recognizing the nuances between him categorically disqualifying as a pedophile versus him indulging in questionable age gap relationships time and again, especially as he gets older. Legality should not dictate your morality or capacity to entertain nuances. Gender, age and power dynamics in relationships are complicated, and something in Leo's choices clearly don't sit well with people for obvious reasons.

I think some of you need to listen to Demi Lovato's new song, 29, which is about a relationship they had with a 29 year old when they were 17, which is of course, a much younger age gap than we're dealing with here and how turning 29 yourself is the realisation of how wrong all this is. "Finally 29, funny how 17 would never cross my mind, it was a teenage dream, just a fantasy, it was yours, it wasn't mine" sums it up pretty well.

Let's not also forget how the physical presence of a man can be scary, especially when he's much older than us. You feel their strength and power and are very scared to challenge it. Girls who get involved in a relationship with a much older man can stay in it for years because they're consciously or subconsciously so afraid and worry how they'll cope without him.

As a woman, I don't know what attraction there possibly is in much younger guys other than physically. I want to mother them, not date them, probably because with maternal instincts, I view them in the same light as a son. But it appears men don't really have those same paternal instincts when they see young women, unless they are a father themselves perhaps. Older men flirting with me has always made my skin crawl. I don't know what makes them possibly think they have a chance. Considering how I look younger than my age too, it's even more concerning. When you're in the first few months of university at 17 and a man who appears to be in his late 50's is coming onto you, the only feeling you have is "I need to get the hell outta here." Funny thing is, now in my 30's, it's happening in reverse! Like I said, I look much younger to the point where even young people seem unaware of my actual age. 2 boys who must've been about 15 or 16 cycled past me and one shouted out to me: "He wants your Snap!" I felt like shouting back: "I don't have Snapchat, boy! I'm 32, I'm old enough to be your mother!" Which would probably have made them go: "You're a MILF then, I definitely want your Snap!"

Any mother will tell you that anyone under the age of 21 is still basically a child, especially these days. In my country, the age of consent is 16 which sounds so inviting when you're a teenager yourself, scarily young when you're older. Men like Andrew Tate know older women wouldn't put up with their nonsense, that's why they stick to young ones. Younger women are still working out what kind of man they want and what's normal behaviour in relationships. They haven't been bogged down with years of overbearing men like older women have so they're a bit unaware of what's a normal and acceptable way for men to act. I like to think the yes girls Andrew surrounds himself with will wonder what they were thinking when they're older. Quality men will be attracted to full-grown bonafide women who are confident enough to know who they are and what they want. Insecure man children will prefer to run into the arms of an insecure young woman who they can control.

Thanks for your perspective  I definitely wasn't considering all of that pressure and dysfunction and I really appreciate you taking the time to express all of that!

I guess I'm just rolling my eyes at how people are lumping relationships Leo had in his early 20s in with this list of him exclusively dating under 25 year olds to make a point rather than look at the facts. I don't like exaggeration on either side of the coin, and I think calling him a pedophile is really f*cking extreme and cringey when there are real predators out there harming actual children  (Not saying you called him that, cuz you didn't - I'm taking about others in this thread)
