Of course we need to ignore SL and Plastic Doll here lol. But 911, Enigma, Replay, SFA etc's lyrics seem so much more sophisticated, so much more devoid of clichés, than Joanne and ASIB imo, it almost seems like a different person wrote them

I‘ve been thinking about her writing lately a lot and I felt in her more recent songs it gets cringy sometimes.. I don‘t like the style that much anymore, the use of adjectives and sometimes the structure over all. HmH is a great example for that „look into my wishful eyes“ and „let god show you(us or whatever) how“ feel so clunky.

Love Me Right, which is cute, I love her voice and I picture her singing it and it makes me smile, but not because of the lyrics but because of her. „I know that it sounds taboo, i wear my heart on my sleeve, its making its debut“ .. it doesnt hit right and i feel she used to be able to do more with less words.

If anyone can argue against this shift in writing, please do so, because I honestly don‘t know if its just my perception that has changed 😅

Strength: powerful voice, stage presence, X factor, chameleon aesthetically, humble, genuinely good person, bops, versatile, musically adept and knowledgeable

weaknesses: her mental health bc it affects her confidence, sometimes comes across as scripted/ too rehearsed in interviews nowadays.

It seems like since Joanne, creatively speaking, Gaga’s career has been stagnant. I don't think the "kindness" thing you described is an overestimation, I honestly think it'd be better described as an underestimation. I genuinely feel like Gaga's reached a point in her life where she doesn't feel anywhere near as comfortable as she used to being in the spotlight and I think she's very jaded about people she's felt betrayed by in the past. I think her decisions as of late have centered around wanting to have a stable and trustworthy team and less about her "overestimating" herself.

Strength: she almost always has a clear, artistic vision for a project. She’s confident in her artistry and isn’t afraid of trying new things. She stays true to her theater kid roots.
 

Weakness: her lyrics don’t always reflect the depth of a song’s meaning.

Strength: adaptivity of her talent and she knows how to spin anything into gold. She could sell a ketchup popsicle to someone wearing white lace gloves.

Weakness: her lack of self awareness. I adore this woman but like "she sent flies after me" and the literal 5th album cycle where you claim it saved your life are just ridiculous. A monument to eyerolling.

I don't mean to compare women for just the sake of it, but like... Madonna does that too. You'll be vibing to a song so well but then the lyricism barks at you and completely takes you out of it.

Finally, she should reinvent her songs during tours. It was unfortunate to hear the same songs from her career beginnings being played the same way in her tours years later. I mean, adding some rock to it is kind of lame... really change it up and experiment.

She mostly does do new choreos for each tour, for better or worse lol. Like didn't Enigma have new choreo for almost every song, and some were kinda creative like the DITD flying fish thing lmao. And 911 video choreo, her most recent, was totally different than all of her others IMO

I guess she could move away from the typical 'pop star and her dance troupe' group choreos. Rosalía's new tour is a good example of how pop tour choreography can be more artistic than that

 

However I couldn't agree more about the tour instrumentations. For someone who 'never does the same s* twice' and is always reinventing themselves, it's crazy that PF and JD have been performed with the same stale old 2008 instrumentals for over a decade now. I swear if TCB doesn't reinvent them in some way

I disagree with her being a subpar lyricist. She wrote everything on TFM (look at the credits, it was pretty much her lol), and then look at Chromatica. I don’t understand how someone like Gaga could write ANYTHING on BTW or TFM or ARTPOP yet still be so simple for Chromatica. My theory is that she had to simplify lyrics for whatever reason. I don’t know why but I think that happened. However, I still believe there’s some great lyricism in Chromatica like 911, Babylon, and Enigma
