IHE 563
I think I'm losing my love of pop culture. These two basics have no music that I love. I'm becoming an old crotchety woman. Two of the most boring reductive women in pop for me personally. If they never made music again it would have zero effect on me. Am I dead inside? Noah 26,941
While Duas debut was super basic, she learnt and created an amazing concept 2018 (One Kiss) onwards. She really trained, learnt and created one of the best Pop Albums of this Decade. Ava just pushes out Songs, hoping one sticks, but never takes the time to like create a concept, a sound thats hers etc. because she creates all her Singles thinking 'this may be on the Album' it all ends up sounding the same/similar, whereas Dua really took time to almost create a whole sound palette for her Album which makes it blend effortlessly without sounding too similar. I think for a better word - Ava lacks the refinement. ⟡ ⋆ ˚。⋆🦢⋆ ˚。⋆⟡

nswain1110 3,075
I really love a lot of Ava’s songs - it’s super fun pop music. Nothing deep, just light and fun bops. But I’m not too sure how much of her brand and music is her vs her just being the right conduit to showcase Circuit’s pop production prowess. I agree with others that say Ava doesn’t have a very strong identity as an artist. Her interviews are uninteresting, we don’t know much about her as a person and she doesn’t spend much effort expressing who she is and what she wants to say to the world through her music. For this reason I don’t see her ever breaking through artistically like the current MPGs. That’s being said, I hope she continues to evolve her sound and contribute fun pop music to the landscape. She may not be a transformative and impactful persona but there’s room for her to keep exploring her brand. Other than New Rules peaking at no.6 and IDGAF at no.49, none of the other singles even charted in the US. She had those DJ collabs but they all peaked in the 70s. I'd say Ava's success so far is very much comparable.
