It’s my favourite period of time for music :air:

then it all started to take a dive around 2015, by the time joanne came out it was all trap music :bradley:

music era is more fun when there is no streaming service tbh. pure album sales. and the excitement from buying the album to listen to your fav (and also pirate your non fav but u like the song) lmao :laughga:

it's not only about partying all night anymore :partysick:

Well, maybe it should be though. Songs were way more fun back then. Music in general was much more uplifting and the silliness of it all contributed a lot more to creating fun memories than what's trendy today.

Depends on what music you were listening to I suppose, and perhaps where. I remember that period being amazing for music in the UK, it wasn’t particularly pop focused but more like indie-festival music which the UK did really well.

Not the bore worms!

music is just as fun today, i think it depends on your perspective.

levitating is the most streamed female song of this century (2000s to date) and it's a super fun silly song, "my sugaboo, im levitating" :gaysia:

Can't take an article published by Vice too seriously. This conversation is layered af. Gotta think about the context of what it was like to be coming of age around that period and why you could say "feel good" or escapist themes took precedence. I also cant help but sneer at any conversation centered on the notion that danceable and electronic music is inherently soul-less and that more understated compositions are thus objectively "real (aka better)". This is all bad lol

Not uniformly by any means. The EDM trend? was definitely not for everyone, but I think the 2008-2013 era was more fun and bombastic than the 2014-2019 era of whatever that was. We got Teenage Dream, Red, Born This Way, Loud, Animal + Cannibal, Warrior, The Fame, The Fame Monster, Femme Fatale, Flesh Tone, I Am Sasha Fierce, 4 and so many good pop albums during this period that actually saw commercial success and had well executed eras. Of course great indie pop exists today and I love Carly Rae Jepsen and Emotion, but pop music was fun and impactful during that period. People like Gaga, Natalia Kills, and Kelis were taking electro-pop in interesting directions at this time and brought some darkness and angst to the Bubblegum element. I think the trends of whispering is more annoying tbh.

Maybe I am just speaking from an nostalgic point of view, but I considered those years to be the best for music so far this century.

This decade however :ladyhaha:

In my messy era.
