I was aware of Tammy Fay Baker when I was really little.  She was kind of a pop culture joke because of her grating voice and her clownish makeup.  Chastain does an incredible job humanizing her and really captures how loving and open of a human being she was, even though she could be quite naive.   The scene where she talks to the AIDS patient wins it for her in my opinion.

I enjoyed her in The Help, but it wasn’t until I started seeing her in the following roles that made me realize how versatile of an actor she is.  She’s the real deal.

YES that scene killed me  and to find out it was a reenactment. I think I was too young to know who she was but I think I remember seeing her on tv. The movie itself was good (to me) but Jessica's portrayal is the entire reason to watch. Whereas I felt the other movies were better than Tammy Faye, even if the portrayal wasn't as strong as Jessica's, if that makes sense. Perhaps if I had seen more of the real Tammy, I would've picked this one. 

Regardless, Jessica has deserved recognition for her acting for a LONG time!
