After 20 years I realised last night that the Shrek theme song lyrics were never "and the shape of an owl on her forehead". :neyde:

When I listen to "Venus" and she goes

Neptune, go
Now serve Pluto
Saturn, Jupiter
Mercury, Venus, uh ha
Uranus
Don't you know my ass is famous?

Instead of "Uranus" I always hear "your a n u s" :awkney:

I’m notorious for mishearing everything. To the point where I don’t know what most songs are about lol

But when I was a kid, I thought Mamma Mia was “ooooh since the day we faaarted”

Get the pinot ready, because it's turtle time.

In Hello (Adele) I always thought she said "there's such a distance between us" (rather than difference).

I think "distance" would be a more clever lyric and less obvious. You'd hear her say there's a distance between us, so you think they're far apart, and then she says "and a million miles" and you're like oooooh she meant metaphorical distance the first time.

Deep. :ally:

And so that's it, I am buying a Lamborghini
To make up for these habits
To survive the sick in the streets!

Instead of:

To survive this sick industry

Beat It - "Showing how funky strong is your fight" but I heard: "Showing how f**king strong is your fight." I'm convinced that any artist that uses the word "funky" in a song is deliberately trying to get people to mishear it so their song gets more attention. I've heard other people have misheard Play That Funky Music the same way.

Do You Know The Way to San Jose? but I heard "Do you know the way to sandal's egg?" In my defence, I was very young and had never heard of San Jose at the time, so this was me hearing a new phrase phonetically with no context. Hearing this song again all these years later seeing as I couldn't remember any of the other lyrics, I've actually misheard more! There's the line: "All the stars that never were are parking cars and pumping gas" and yes, I did hear "f**king cars and pumping gas!"

Lovegame - "I'm educated in sex, yes" but I heard "I'm educated and sexist." Looking back, the yes is actually clearer than I remember but I surely can't be the only one.

Automatic (by Nicki Minaj) - "I'm a monster on the floor, I can't quit" but I heard "I'm a monster on a funky cl*t." One of my most bizarre mishears but I still think that the real lyrics don't sound like that no matter what you mishear, she doesn't seem to have enough syllables to make those be the real lyrics.

Welcome To Jamrock - "It inna your handbag, your knapsack it..." but I heard "It inna your handbag, your knob, suck it." Understandably, Jamaican music was completely new to me at the time as a 15 year old from Scotland, so mishears naturally were going to happen. For what it's worth, I heard someone else mishear this too.

Love Lifts Us Up Where We Belong but I heard "And if there's somewhere we belong." Still think it sounds like that. I still go to sing that line. Because that was the first way I ever heard it, I can't get it out my head.

There's way more so I might recall some later.
