Yes! Because COVID and monkeypox are both transmitted through respiratory droplet,s masks should be effective for monkey pox as well. But its incredibly hard to transmit it to begin with- from what I understand it usually takes hours of close contact with someone with monkeypox in order to contract it, when with covid its usually ~15 minutes. But the incubation period with covid is also much shorter. While COVID it usually takes just a couple of days, monkeypox takes 1-2 weeks before you start to exhibit any symptoms, but thankfully a recent dose of a smallpox vaccine (within 3 years) significantly reduces the chance of contracting the virus (or at least from experiencing any symptoms), providing an 85% efficacy rate (thats the lowest rate thats provided, suggesting it could be even higher).

I heard other people say that as well, and I understand why its concerning. But monkeypox outbreaks almost exclusively occur on the African continent, so nearly every picture that documents the virus are with people with darker skin simply because of the geography.
