AVeryGagaHolyDick 25,237
Stupid Love was abandoned by Gaga the day it was released, and Gaga’s previous lead single peaked at #15. There's no comparison. That said, #5 is still a great debut and the song could still rise

It’s only fair. Also, Bad Habits has only grown on streaming throughout this past week Do people claim Stupid Love to be a moderate hit They need to cut it out if so hahahahaha

SevenWonder 4,322
1. I don't think anyone is saying Bad Habits is flopping. I think it's just a bit of surprise. In the US, he's been everywhere. Promo on the James Cordon show every single night. And his last era was hugely bigly. The assumption with Ed, unlike Gaga, is that he'd debut at 1. Or at least 2 or 3. Like Beiber and maybe Post (and now The Weeknd) he's just feels seemingly too big to fail (meaning not snatching a number 1). 2. I think, as others have said, that having stans is really important to an artist's longevity. Stans can be annoying (lowkey talking about myself), but our loyalty ensures, at the very least, a baseline of success that pure GP artists don't have access to. A Star is Born is not a studio album but it’s still a Gaga album. It was extremely successful and it provided Gaga a #1 song and a moderate hit with ARUTW. That's why, despite the promo plans getting thrown off the tracks (and with a little help from the absolute ✨quality✨ of Chromatica), she followed ASIB with a #1 album, a #5 single, a Grammy winning #1 single, and three great videos OT: I can't wait for it to climb just to see the meltdowns I hate Ed just as much as the next Gaga stan but I can't get on board with hoping someone fails for no legitimate reason If anything, I hope he snatches the #1 spot from BTS just to spite their stans 🌸Flourishing and vibrant🌼

This thread was made with the objective to hate on Ed and call him a flop. It's giving me that one negative review the song recieved and how y'all were quick to trash him ignoring the countless other positive reviews energy. That’s something I don’t get. Crawling to the top is far more impressive than debuting at #1 and falling afterwards. Which is why Shallow and Just Dance will always be my favorite #1s of Gaga. They truly earned their #1 with longevity and the belief in these songs. Debuting at #5 is impressive, especially with the promo being more centered around the European market.
